Places to Ride Your ATV in Georgia

Finding places to ride your ATV in Georgia can be a daunting task, primarily because of the increasing number of regulations that seem to follow you around these days. A proliferation of pay-to-play ATV parks are out there, but in many cases, they have few interesting trails, and are saddled with rules that while they are intended to keep you safe while riding, can also stunt the fun of riding your ATV to its full potential. Many of Georgia's best trails are situated in North Georgia, just at the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. These trails come in a variety of challenging or not-so-challenging difficulty ratings, and not all of them require an entry fee.

The Beasley Knob OHV trail system is located in Blairsville, Georgia, and features eleven miles of difficult trails that feature lots of climbing and rocky technical trails. The trails are closed between January and March, so if you go, plan to go during the spring, summer or fall. Although the trail system is good for advanced riders, novices whose skills aren't quite up to some of the more serious hill climbs will want to steer clear of this trail system until they've tackled some moderately technical terrain successfully.

Big Nasty ATV park in Bloomingdale, Georgia is a privately held area that comprises1600 acres of muddy track and riding trails. Big Nasty is a good area for family ATV riding thanks to its variety of trail systems, junior track, and planned future camping facilities. The park comprises two square miles of predominantly mud trails that are neither maintained nor rated, but you will find far more here for beginners than you will at many other ATV parks. For advanced riders primarily interested in climbing trails, there isn't much to be seen in this swampy park. When you go, plan to take plenty of mosquito repellent with you.

Broad River Adventure park is located in Carolton, Georgia and features at least fifty miles of maintained trails that are primarily designed with amateur riders in mind. The park is exceedingly family friendly, offering amenities such as camping, picnic tables, concessions and restrooms, and also relaxing river tubing for $15 during the park office's open hours. During the Summer, the park is open from Thursday through Sunday, and during the winter and fall, the park is open from Friday through Sunday.

Moto Mountain Park is located in Fairmount, Georgia and features 76 miles of trails spread out over two square miles of mountain terrain. This family-friendly ATV park has marked, maintained trails that are not rated, but that are very well maintained. The park offers riders of all abilities a range of options for riding, but there is little mud to be found. Most of your trail riding at this park will consist of hardpack and rocks, with little of the trail system presenting a problem for experienced riders.
