Places to Shop for Your Mechanic

Megan Shannon
My boyfriend is a mechanic and I'm telling you, I've never had such a hard time buying someone things as I do with him. You would think, just buy him tools. It's not that easy. What if I get the 'wrong' tools? What if they aren't the right kind and he doesn't like them? I would rather know what he wants and get the right thing. The best way to beat around this problem is gift cards of course. I find those less personal therefore I do not normally use them.

Since this last Christmas I have searched online for places to get him things for this Christmas. Yes, I'm thinking ahead! I want to be prepared and be able to give him something he'll really enjoy and be surprised about. Last Christmas I came across a good find on Ebay. "Diagnostic Dice," a novelty toy that mechanic's can actually use. He loved them and I recommend them to anyone!

CafePress.com is a really cool website. They offer personalized gifts as well as other services. They have many different pictures and sayings to choose from for every occasion. They have a mechanic topic, and you can choose sayings to put on a mug, t shirt, and key chain, whatever you like!! The prices will vary but the best thing about this site is giving the personalize gift. You can never go wrong with something like this! It's worth the money.

Milehimall.com is a neat website offering mechanic and car enthusiast gifts. Everything from tools and auto accessories to scale cars and personal gifts. They have neat auto gadgets as well and the prices vary on everything of course. You could probably find a similar gift that these other sites offer for cheaper on a different site or in a different store. It is still highly recommended whichever way you go because you know your loved one will love the gift!!

You could always make your own gift as well. Or even just buy something they could use. For instance, my mechanic has a set of small display engines he wants to set up but we have nowhere to put them. I am going to buy a curio cabinet so that he can put them in there along with the many other car items he has. This way he can have them all out and be able to look at them and I can add on to his collection every year with something different.
