Places to Stay on the Little Manistee in Luther, Michigan

Theresa L.
There are many places to go and travel around the world. My favorite place is my hometown of Luther, Michigan. It is a small village with less than 350 residents that is surrounded by lots of trees and rivers making it the ideal location for hunting and fishing. Located directly on the Little Manistee with access to the Pine River, Luther is the picture-perfect place to come visit.

Being in the middle of no where there are not to many fancy hotels or motels to stay at. The term 'roughing it' comes to mind when considering places to stay in or around Luther from campgrounds to log cabins. There are plenty of campsites a traveler could stay at.

The Carrieville State Forest Campground is located three miles outside out of the town of Luther on Old M-63 and Kings Highway. It has 25 sites for tents and small trailers. Located off from the Little Manistee River it is accessible to some great fishing as well as off-road vehicles. The campground includes vault toilets as well as water from a hand pump well. If interested in this campground you can contact them at 231-775-9727. Rates are given by phone calls only.

One of the advantages to staying at the Carrieville campsite is Old Carrieville Store located a short ride away making it the perfect location to stay for RV lovers.

Lincoln Bridge State Forest Campground is another campground located just outside of Luther. The campsite houses nine sites for tents as well as small trailers that are located on Silver Creek and the Pine River. There are pathways all around the campground for hiking, mountain biking as well as picnic tables, vault toilets. The Lincoln Bridge campsite is located on State Rd and 10 Mile Rd. For more information on this campsite you can contact them at 231-775-9727. Rates are given by phone calls only.

Silver Creek State Forest Campground is one of the more popular camping sites around Luther, Michigan with 26 sites for tents and trailers located on the Pine River. The campground has areas for hiking and mountain biker on the Silver Creek. This site also includes vault toilets and portable water from a well pump. It is located directly on State Rd. For more information on Silver Creek you can contact them at 231-797-9727. Rates are given by phone calls only.

One of the small advantages of staying at Silver Creek or Lincoln Bridge is the golf course and canoe rentals located a short distance down the road.

If you're like some people, the outdoor life is not meant for you. Luther houses a beautiful cabin located directly on the Manistee River. It is owned by Ray Cejmer, a local who has lived in Luther for over 20 years. For more information you can contact Ray directly at 231-797-5410 or visit his website at: http://www.rayscozylogcabin.com/. The cost to stay at the cabin varies on the number of people. For two people it is $85.00 per night while four people will cost $95.00 per night with a weekly rate of $500 and up. If interested call ahead early because this little cabin books up very quickly.

Now that you know where you can stay, come on by for a spell. We got lots of fishing and hunting areas as well as some great traditions and fun events.
