Seminole, Oklahoma is a fairly small town, but it is also a very exciting one. There are many places to see as this town has a big history. In 1907, the town was officially named Seminole, which became a trading center for cattlemen until 1926. This is when oil was discovered in the area, which led to the oil boom of the town. Seminole became a booming community when the city was divided into plots and sold to a number of these oil boomers. With this boom came great change for the city because of the increased need for schools and other equipment for the residents of Seminole. Seminole became known as the Oil Field Supply and Service Capital of Oklahoma.

One of the main attractions the town is known for is its extravagant Gusher Days festival which is held during the first part of June. This is a big part of our town because it is a celebration of the Seminole's history. There are many contests for arts, crafts, and other activities such as gardening. You can also participate in the many rides, such as the Zipper. There are also many booths that provide a nice way for the townspeople to sell various goods that they craft. There is also a Seminole Nations Day that is held at the Mekusukey Mission outside of Seminole, which is also a big part of the Native American history in Oklahoma. The word Seminole means stray people in Creek.
