Craigdarroch Castle - built by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir, it is a sad thing to view this beautiful castle knowing that Robert died prior to the completion of this beautiful place. His wife Joan inherited the entire estate including Craigdarroch Castle, after Mr. Dunsmuir's death in 1889.
The four stories of Craigdarroch Castle are filled with exquisite stained glass windows and stylish woodwork along with the original Victorian furnishings showing visitors the immense wealth left behind at his death. Roberts's wife Joan lived in Craigdarroch Castle till her death in 1908, leaving behind this beautifully constructed and immensely magic filled landmark.
Looking from the windows of this wonderful castle gives visitors views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains along with views of Victoria itself.
