Places Where Military Families Can Get Discounts in Louisville, Kentucky

One of the perks of being an Army family is that we usually get discounts, or even free admission into a lot of places. Just yesterday we went to the Louisville Slugger museum, and we got in completely free. The museum is a very interesting place to go, even if you don't enjoy baseball. You get to watch a twenty minute video in the theater about the history of baseball, then you get to go into the actual museum, and then you go on a tour of the Louisville Slugger Factory, where the entire process is explained to you by a tour guide and some short video clips. At the end of the tour, you get your own miniature Slugger bat. (on a side note, these bats are not allowed as carry-ons into the Louisville Airport, but is alright as checked baggage.) Go to www.sluggermuseum.org for information on tour times, location, and cost for non military families

Another great place that you can go is right across the street, to a place called the Frazier Arms Museum. My husband especially liked this museum. In it you have suits of armor, swords, knives, famous guns like the elephant gun that Teddy Roosevelt used on his African safari, and an actual sword fight, they even offer swordsmanship classes for a fee. The military discount is only a dollar off, bringing the price from a nine dollar admission without audio, to an eight dollar admission, but it was worth it to see my husband drooling over the nifty swords and guns. For more information on times, admission prices, a map and exhibits of the day go to www.frazierarmsmuseum.org

Then, just a block down from the Frazier Arms Museum is the Louisville Science center. This was by far my favorite place to visit. The military discount for the science center is buy one get one free, for the price of twelve dollars for exhibits only, and fifteen dollars for Imax and Exhibits. Children two and under are free. My two year old son may not have understood a lot of the exhibits, but he loved being able to run around and push all of the buttons, pull on the levers and cranks, and he especially loved the polar bears displayed. He literally froze in place, mouth wide open, and stared at the twelve foot bear for a good five minutes. I think my husband and I had more fun than our son did. When we went, the kids zone was closed, but that didn't make our adventure any less exciting. We all had a blast, and because the Science center is kid friendly, we didn't have to constantly remind him to not touch anything, because he was allowed to touch everything. We truly had a blast and are considering getting a membership to this wonderfully educational place. For Location, hours of operation, and prices for admission go to www.louisvillescience.org/site/index

For the lovers of ballet, the Louisville Ballet is also located on Main street, though I personally haven't gone there, I defiantly wish too. The performances that are coming up soon are, American Vanguards, and Beauty and the Beast. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.louisvilleballet.org

For a lovely bed and breakfast that offers military discounts, go to www.bnbfinder.com/Kentucky/Louisville/Bed-and-Breakfast/Listing/6200/Central_Park_Bed_and_Breakfast

And while your here in Kentucky, enjoy yourself, and have a great time
