Santo Domingo's own Placido Polanco, and bygone Detroit Tiger second basemen, will be returning to the Philadelphia Phillie's once again, ensuing a wind-fall new contact, signing with the Phillie's for $18 million dollars over the next three years, with a forth year option. That's allot of Little Caesars Pizza slinging for the Detroit Tiger's owner, Mike Ilitch, or 'Crazy Bread" for that matter, to match (pun definitely intended).

The contract compiles a whopping $5.5 million mutual election for 2013, which will allow Polanco a ten day period after the 2012 World Series to determine whether he desires to capitalize on this said enterprising option.

If Placido Polanco decides not to act, the team either has to espouse up to the option or compensate him for a sum of a $1 million buyout. If he rejects, he becomes a free agent with no buyout and still makes out like a bandit.

But hold onto your baseball cap, there's more...

He additionally can aspire to attaining an additional bankroll of: $50,000 for a Silver Slugger or Gold Glove Award; $50,000 if he is the LCS-MVP; if voted to the All-Star Team and named by AP, Baseball America All-Stars and the Sporting News, $50,00; if elected to the All-Star Team, a fine sum of $100,000 for MVP will be collected by him or $75,000 for second place, or $50,000 for third.

The only single occurrence grappling Placido back, is a regulatory physical, and without a doubt, the Phillie's upper-management wants to make sure that they aren't buying damaged goods with that measure of money and or options lying on the base-line leading to third, where Polonco will occupy playing for the Phillie's. With the season ending record his former Detroit Tigers obtained, it goes without saying, that no one should lose any sleep over such trivial details.

Placido Polanco landed in Philadelphia on Thursday morning to take above mentioned physical, and spoke to NBC-10 TV's, John Clark, and said that he is "Excited to join a championship team." Is it no wonder, that he is, after leaving the stagnant Detroit Tigers. He also said that, "The Phillie's were always my first choice," he said on Thursday. He went on to elaborate that, "I played here, I know most of the guys here, I know the city. And they have a pretty good team that's committed to win. I thank all of the other teams that expressed interest in me, but the Phillie's were always my first choice."

I am more than convinced the Tigers were anguished to see him depart after their failed rebuilding attempts, and have to concur as well, and can only hope that as a resident lover of the Detroit Tigers, regardless of where they have been, or where this team is going, that someday an exceptional player such as Placido Polanco will also want to return to a championship team someday. This writer will not hold his breath.
