Plan to relocate Royal Oak homeless shelter put on hold
Neighborhood: Downtown
Ferndale, MI 48220
United States of America
Ferndale residents in one neighborhood won't be getting a homeless shelter any time soon, as relocation plans have been put on hold for the time being. The executive director of the South Oakland Shelter, Ryan Hertz, cites changes in the real estate market, which have prompted shelter officials to consider buying property rather than leasing.

The homeless shelter service does not only provide shelter to those in need of those services. The shelter service also helps those who may be in danger of being evicted, as well as those who were previous shelter clients but who now may be eligible for re-housing assistance.
