Are you heading out on a road trip this Spring Break? I remember my days in college, the days where I had all of the time but limited cash to spend on Spring Break vacations. Well you are in luck because I think I have found 10 tips to keep in mind while planning a budget friendly trip.

#1 - Plan -In order to make the most out of your budget, make a list of all of the places you plan to stop on the trip and any activities you and fellow travelers have in mind while visiting.

#2 - Budget - Once you have a plan, figure out what each person has in mind as far as an individual budget and then come up with a grand total for all of the funds available. Individually a lot funds for gas, meals, hotel, and activities.

#3 - Coupons & Discounts - Research for any possible discounts. AAA has membership discounts for hotel and car rentals as well coupon books for activities. Try to book a hotel online and call the hotel after booking to indicate that you have a AAA discount for the best deals. Look for hotels that offer free continental breakfasts. This will safe quite a bit of cash. National chain restaurant coupons can be found online as well make sure you bring them with you.

#4 - Map- Create a map depicting all of your stops this will avoid spending extra on gas.

#5 - Travel in groups of 4 - It is best to travel in groups of 4 to maximize the money spent on hotel accommodations and car rental money.

#6 - Destinations - Consider Spring Break destinations that are not in peak season. This will ensure great package deals and fantastic prices.

#7- Bring a Cooler - Pack the cooler with all kinds of snacks and beverages, this way you just have to make stops for gas and restrooms and you can whip out your cooler and enjoy something that would otherwise cost a fortune at a rest stop.

#8 - Welcome Centers - Visit welcome centers as they have plenty of brochures and coupons for local festivals and activities that you may not have known about.

#9 - Safety - Make sure all safety considerations are taken including your car, this can help avoid any unplanned expenses and disruptions while on your trip.

#10 - Flexibility - It is important to be flexible because road trips do not always go according to plan. Minor disruptions and delays are expected so be relaxed and go with the flow.

I hope you consider a good old fashion road trip this Spring Break and realize the the above cost saving tips can really help out .
