Plane Skids Off the Runway at the Worcester Airport in MA and This Isn't the First MA Airport Incident This Month

This morning in Worcester, MA a plane skidded off of the runway at the Worcester Airport according to channel 7 news. The plane that skidded off of the runway was a small plane and thankfully there were only 2 people aboard the plane. These two people have no injuries that have been reported at this time. The plane drifted off of the runway onto a patch of grass due to a crosswind. The Worcester Regional Airport is a small airport that only has flights going in and out of a couple of locations. The only airline that works with this airport is DirectAir.

There seems to have been quite a few incidents occurring at the smaller airports as well as the major airport in Massachusetts over the last month or two. While thankfully none of these incidents resulted in any serious injuries, the happenings have definitely shaken up quite a few passengers as well as observers. Passengers are never 100% comfortable in flying after 9/11, and these incidents aren't helping the fear that many have on a daily basis of getting on a plane.

Just three days ago 22 News reported that Logan airport in Boston, MA had to cancel and delay many flights due to a power outage. Baggage was even being checked by hand for a while. Even though the power was only out for just under ten minutes, it took over two hours until the airport was operating as normal. This incident didn't affect any inbound flights, except for not allowing the planes to taxi up to the gate. Passengers had to get off of the plane via stairs and walk to the airport.

According to airportbusiness.com, at the beginning of this month, a flight leaving from Boston was hit by a bird, and caused the planes to have some internal problems. The plane was thankfully able to land on the ground after this happened, but had passengers and observers pretty shaken up in sight of what happened. The only sign of the happenings were blood from the bird all over the nose of the plane.

A couple of months ago according to the Herald Wire Services, there was two airport incidents at the Bedford, MA airport which involved a small plane and a helicopter. These two incidents actually happened within 8 minutes of each other. The helicopter was being flown by a student pilot and the instructor actually crashed the plane while practicing hovering methods which caused heavy damages. There were only minor injuries accompanied with this incident. Eight minutes before this helicopter incident, there was a small float plane which was attempting to land when all of its gear collapsed in the process. Although this incident could have ended very badly for a commercial sized plane, there were no sustaining injuries from this aircraft incident either.
