Accoding to www.worstprevyews.com there's a sequel on it's way.
Personally I never cared about the apes, I only liked the people.
But here's a press release sneek peak
" Today we have the first set photos from the set of the upcoming "Planet of the Apes" prequel, called "Rise of the Apes," featuring shots of James Franco, Freida Pinto and possibly Andy Serkis. Check them out below.
Set in present day San Francisco, the origin story deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
A chimp named Caesar (Serkis) leads the uprising among the apes after having been raised by John Lithgow and Franco's father-and-son scientist characters. Pinto plays a primatologist who helps Franco. Brian Cox plays the villainous owner of a primate sanctuary who runs the facility without compassion for the animals that live there."
