Planet Fitness does not have aerobics classes or a pool so for those of you who are looking for those two things this might not be the gym for you. However if you are looking for an inexpensive gym to actually be able to workout at rather than feel like you are in a social setting then this is the gym for you.
Memberships generally run about $10/month with an annual fee that is usually under $30/year. Better yet, there is no contract to be signed. You can cancel your Planet Fitness membership at anytime.
For an additional $10/month you can get what they call a black card. This entitles you to go to any Planet Fitness at anytime. For those of you who work in one area and live in another, or who are traveling to places where you know a Planet Fitness exists this might be an additional plus for you.
What I enjoy about Planet Fitness is the fact that they have many treadmills, elliptical machines and my personal favorite the Cybex Arc Trainer. A cross between an elliptical, and a Stairmaster. On this machine I burn a ton of calories in a small amount of time. All cardio machines are in front of a row of televisions for easy viewing.
In addition to the numerous cardio machines, Planet Fitness also comes equipped with many weight machines and a ton of free weights. This helps improve your workout experience by mixing cardio and strength training.
There is a circuit area as well along with mats, kettlebells, stability balls, resistance bands etc. for a total body workout. What is even more impressive is the "Judgment Free Zone" mantra, which basically means that you can work out without feeling like people are judging you. If a member is acting like a tough shot they are asked to leave.
Planet Fitness is an excellent gym with a friendly atmosphere. It is a great gym for health nuts and those just trying to get back into shape. Whatever your reasons for looking for a gym to join, Planet Fitness is my recommendation.
