Unfortunately for them, Planned Parenthood has already made some poor choices of their own in how they treat the extremely peaceful team of pro life prayer advocates. Reports from all over the country have streamed into David Bereit, founder of the 40 Days For Life, of harassment, threats and so forth from Pro Choice advocates and Planned Parenthood themselves. And while they state on their site that "an overwhelming majority of Americans (71 percent) agreed that women and health care providers should not be forced to endure intimidation and harassment from anti-choice protesters," they fail to mention that the 40 Days For Life is as peaceful as they come. They fail to mention that most polls will show that close to 70% of American citizens are in favor of anything from tighter restrictions to a complete ban on abortion.
One Planned Parenthood clinic has covered their fence with a black tarp so women pulling into the clinic to get an abortion won't have to interact with sidewalk counselors. This just proves Planned Parenthood's lack of support for real choices for women. At another clinic a Pro Choice advocate backed their car into a 40 Days For Life volunteer and then proceeded to open the car doors into the crowd. On the east coast Pro Life supporters have had their yard signs vandalized by Pro Choice advocates spray painting "eat babies" on 40 Days For Life signs. Shouts from Pro Choice advocates in the form of hate speech are being used in some parts of the country to try and dismantle the 40 Days For Life gathering, but they're not leaving.
There is more going on and in some places its worse than others, but these peaceful and prayerful advocates for life are not leaving until the campaign is over. They are not out there to intimidate, harass, threaten or gross people out with post abortive pictures of babies. They are there to pray, hold vigil, reach out to the community in a positive way and offer support to those women who will take it. If anything, members of the 40 Days For Life are out to offer alternatives to abortion and answer questions. Men, women and children all over the country are showing up. Everyday there are more people signing up.
Perhaps if Planned Parenthood had done their homework they would realize that every member of the 40 Days For Life is required to sign a statement of peace. By signing, members of the 40 Days For Life are pledging to not harass, threaten, and use graphic signs or hateful speech towards abortion facility workers or their clients. The statement also makes the signer pledge to obey all legal authorities. Failure to comply with the statement of peace would ban that person for life from the 40 Days For Life. The 40 Days For Life holds no responsibility for people outside of the campaign deciding to take advantage of the moment.
I suppose when your morale is low and you're losing money because women choose to not kill their children it can be hard to keep your cool. So, let's enact a call for prayer for Planned Parenthood. Let's embrace them with love, not hate and show them the light we can be in the darkness of abortion.

Actually Jennifer, a lot of pro-choicers have done their marches in someway or another. I think that we need people out there to at least make the woman think before acting. It is not like their intentions are morally wrong. They want the woman to not kill a life because she was too irresponsible to either not have sex or use birth control of some sort. They believe in morals and not mass genecide, which is what abortion is. Say I suck, I don't care. I have seen poor villagers all over the world with poor children who barely have anything. I have been in countries where the children and their families live in fear of terrorists. And do you know what? They don't believe in abortion either. They have sometimes 8-10 children and overall they make life happen. Abortion is a selfish act. Giving birth is a selfless act. Get mad, curse, yell and call me names, I could care less. But pro lifers protest in support of something good and selfish, hate filled people cant stand them. It's not like
I know this is an old one but hope to hear from you all. On a personal note, kw by the way you express yourself I can tell that you are most likely a very nice, kind and sincere person who truely believes in what you do. Please note that my comments about you are not meant to attack you personally, I am just trying to make a point. I had a run in with your people and they made a friend cry and doubt herself through what I call harassment /intimidation techniques. I told her to get as much information as possible before making a decision and that I will support her either way. This is a very tramatic experience for a woman and best solved by being there for her.
Pro Lifers YOU SUCK! Keep your Christen views and morality to yourselves, because when you get in my "face" you are wrong. Do your thing in your churches, homes, meetings, etc., but when you stand out in the streets waving your sick signs you have now entered the public domain and are interfering in MY life. I did not ask for your opinions or views and do not wish to be harassed with your petty signs and verbage. So your argument is that abortion is "murder" and that if you do nothing you are guilty too.....Well let me pause and give thanks....hallelujah Jesus has landed! and he/'she is on the internet, and his/her handle is kw! Wow it must really be tough for you and your anti abortion friends given that the entire worlds sins rest on your shoulders. Must be hard to sleep at night knowing that each abortion is another conviction for you and your freinds, the guilt must be terrrible to live with....baby killer! Are you Jesus or perhaps just one of the angels sent to help him
And furthermore, Jennifer, I am really offended at your comment instructing me to "go do some work that actually does some good ... focus on the children who are already here".... etc. It's quite laughable that you would make such assumptions about someone you don't know. BUT -- since you are pointing fingers, maybe you should know that I volunteer UNPAID on average of 10 hours a week to helping others. Every Monday I spend the entire morning serving at a Crisis Pregnancy Center, every Saturday I leave my own family to spend the day working at a food pantry handing out food to needy families (yep, including the children who are already here!). I devote countless hours toward raising money and awareness for these organizations. And all this is in addition to my pro-life work.
So, Jennifer, I'd like to know, when was the last time that YOU did something that "did some good" .... or do you spend all your time online making accusations against people you don't know? Respectfully
Jennifer, I absolutely NEVER said or insinuated that any woman seeking an abortion "does not have a brain in her head". Please do not attempt to skew my opinion by putting words in my mouth.
I was merly attempting to answer your original question as to why pro-lifers can't "mind their own business". I was explaining to you the way WE (as pro-lifers) see the issue of abortion, and therefore why we can't do NOTHING. I understand that you don't agree with this view, you obviously don't believe that abortion is the killing of a baby. That's fine, I'm not trying to "convert" you. I was simply trying to explain OUR side to you, so that you can understand why this matters to us so much. And maybe you would see that we're not participating in 40Days as a way to bug people and meddle in their personal lives.
i also think it is funny how all of the extremists commenting on this article won't let their identity be known.
cont: knocking on my door.
A. Reader and KW- you pretend that the woman walking into that clinic doesn't have a brain in her head. Medical procedures such as abortion are made to competant women in their right minds.
The lot of you are also dodging the fact that many people do not believe that a pregnancy in the early phase is a viable human life. A far cry from the ridiculous example below of lining up already born children and shooting them.
If these "pro-lifers" want to do their thing, then get a building in which to do it and let pregnant women come to you. See how you feel when a pro-choice advocacy group sits in front of your door. Actually, you'd never have the chance to know the feeling, because they wouldn't be bothering you.
And let me ask, why aren't you people doing some work that does some actual good? Focus your efforts on doing something for the children who are already here. Or would that be too quiet for you? I know you love your soapbox. You're no better than the johavah's witness knockin
Jennifer Thompson - question for you...why can't people mind their own business? I want a real answer for that. If you don't feel that speaking out against abortion is right, then don't speak out against those who are pro-life. And as to your rhetorical question, "But why, I ask you, do you think you have the right to make a decision for another person? What makes you think you're better suited to do so?" the answer is simple. When an individual makes the decision to kill their unborn child at an abortion clinic, pro-lifers have the right to offer counseling to that individual before they enter the clinic. So, Jennifer Thompson - why can't you mind your own business? The social interaction is between the street counselor and the pregnant woman being offered counseling and literature. What makes you think you have made any kind of logical point with your rhetorical questioning?
