Planning a Brown, Red, and Pink Valentine's Day Wedding Reception

February 14, Valentine's Day, is a special holiday celebrating people's love for one another. For many engaged couples planning a wedding, having a Valentine's Day wedding or a ceremony planned for around that date with a Valentine's Day theme offers plenty of opportunities for romance. While red and pink are the colors that are typically associated with Valentine's Day, there are various color combinations that incorporate those hues that will compliment the theme without Valentine's Day overload. For example, deep chocolate brown is a color that works well with pink and red. Here are some ideas for planning a wedding reception using a brown, pink, and red color scheme.

Valentine's Day Wedding Reception Decoration Ideas
You may want to use ivory or cream-colored tablecloths with chocolate brown table runners on the tables where guests will be eating. Silver-colored dinnerware and brown cloth napkins will add a touch of elegance. For added romance, spread faux red rose petals on the tables. One centerpiece idea is to place brown colored water pearls or brown stones at the bottom of a clear votive holder. Then float rose petals and a tea light in the water. Another idea is to go with a small white crystal wedding tree. Hang strands of red heart-shaped acrylic crystals from the branches. Of course, a centerpiece with red roses as the focal point would easily compliment a Valentine's Day wedding theme.

Decorate any ceiling beams and potted plants with strands of soft white lights. Helium filled red and white balloons can float freely over the dance floor. Further set the mood for love with heart-shaped balloon sculptures or an archway at the door featuring red and white or red and pink balloons.

Valentine's Day Wedding Favors
There are many heart-shaped wedding favors available commercially that would suit this theme. Examples are heart-shaped jewelry boxes, wine stoppers adorned with hearts, votive candles, place card holders, or soaps. Beau-Coup offers a set of "Love Fortune Shakers" that come in red packaging that will provide guests with enjoyment after the ceremony. Another fun wedding favor would be to send guests home with a red favor box containing personalized chocolate fortune cookies. If you or a friend is a good baker, you can make your own Valentine's Day wedding favors by baking heart-shaped sugar cookies or brownie bites packaged in pink or red cellophane wrappers. Decorate these desserts with pink fondant and brown non-pareils.
