The first thing that you will want to do is to plan your menu. You will want to plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There will also be snack that you will want to plan for, while camping you will be eating more often. You want your meals simple so that you can carry food with you and store it while camping.
Once you get your menus, you can then figure out what you prepare at home so that you don't have to do it there. You want to clean your fruits and vegetables and cut them up for the sizes that you need. If you are packing a cooler you will want to pack the items as you will take them out so that the last meal will be at the bottom of the cooler. This is where Ziploc bags will come in handy for you. Put each of your meals in different Ziploc bags so that you can just grab a bag that you need. You can precook some of the foods at home so that you just have to heat them up while you are camping. You can make beef stew ahead of time and just open that Ziploc bags and put it in a pan and heat up. This will be fast and easy for you while you are camping. Make your burgers up ahead of time and freeze them in portions that you can prepare at the campsite easier. The more time you spend doing this at home the more time you can spend camping and not cooking.
Plan simple foods that can be cooked over open flames, kid love putting hotdogs on a stick and holding them over the fire to cook them. They will also love smores which is a camping tradition. Make sure you pack lots of healthy snacks so that you have food to snack on. Trail mix is a great snack to take along. It packs well and is filling.
The more that you preplan and prepare your meals at home the easier it will be at the campground at mealtimes. You are there for vacation also, you don't want to spend all your time over the flames cooking and planning your meals there.
