The Invitations
Many party supply stores sell Pokemon party invitations. Another option to buying pre-made invitations is making your own. Pokemon invitations are easy to make. To make your own Pokemon invitations, follow these steps:
1) Find and download a Pokemon picture on the internet.
2) Open the picture up in any photo editing or word processing program.
3) At the bottom or top of the picture insert the words "I choose you (child's name) to come to (birthday child's name) birthday party.
4) Print the invitation using a color printer.
The Birthday Cake
You can buy Pokemon birthday cakes at many bakeries. You can also make your own Pokemon birthday cake or cupcakes. A simple way to make your own, is to simply put Pokemon toys and decorations on the top of your cake or cupcakes. The toys and decorations can be purchased at many party supply stores. My favorite is Pokeball cupcakes. Pokeball cupcakes are easy to make. Just follow these steps:
1) Make any flavor cupcakes that you desire.
2) Top half of the cupcake with red icing.
3) Top half of the cupcake with white icing.
4) Draw a nickel-sized circle in the middle of the cupcake with black icing.
5) Fill in the middle of the black circle with white icing or a white candy.
VARIATION:
You can use these directions to decorate a cookie cake with the one following change: Make the inner black circle the size of a quarter.
Party Supplies
Pokemon party supplies can be found at party supply stores. They can also be found online at ebay.com or partysuppliesworld.com.
Decorating the party area with a Pokemon tablecloth, Pokemon plates and cups, and Pokemon pictures on the walls will add to the Pokemon atmosphere of the party.
You can print pictures of Pokemon characters from the internet to hang on the walls.
Use a lot of balloons for decorations, to make the party really colorful.
Pokemon Party Games
The Pikachu piñata is a very popular game for Pokemon birthday parties. You can look at party supply stores for a Pikachu piñata or you can make your own.
THE PIKACHU PINATA
www.makingfriends.com/pikachupinata.htm has excellent directions for making your own Pikachu piñata. The directions are simple and easy to follow. The website has a picture of what the Pikachu piñata looks like.
PIN THE TAIL ON THE POKEMON
Pin the tail on the Pokemon is a variation of the popular pin the tail on the donkey game. Whoever pins the tail on the Pokemon gets a prize. The prize can be candy or a Pokemon toy. Follow these directions to make this fun game:
1) Print a full page-sized picture of a Pokemon character from the internet.
2) Glue the picture to a foam poster board.
3) Glue ribbon to a plastic ended tack to make the Pokemon tail. Match the ribbon to the Pokemon character. (Supervise the kids when they play the game to make sure they don't poke themselves with the tack).
4) Use a bandana or any cloth as a blindfold.
FIND THE POKEMON
Hide a Pokemon toy. Whoever finds the Pokemon toy first, gets a prize.
Or
Hide a bunch of Pokemon toys and whoever finds the most toys gets a prize.
MAKE A POKEMON MASK
Before the party, cut eyeholes in paper plates and glue one Popsicle stick to each plate to make a handle. Make extras, in case the kid's mess up and want another plate.
Give each kid a plate and crayons and tell them to draw their favorite Pokemon character. When the kids are done, they can hold the mask up to their face, using the Popsicle stick as a handle. The kids will have a blast playing with their masks.
Pokemon Gift Bags
Pokemon gift bags are easy to make. You can find fill-it-yourself Pokemon gift bags at party supply stores or online. Fill the gift bags with candy and Pokemon stickers.
Extras
Have a Pokemon movie on hand for when the kids get tired. Put the movie on after the kids have, eaten, played games and opened presents.
