Cancun is a spectacular place to visit. With warm, sandy beaches and any water sport you can think of, Cancun is the ultimate winter get away. But what about the summer time? Spectacular deals can be found during the off season. Here is your summer travel guide to visiting Cancun on a budget.

How can you great hotel deals? When I went to Cancun, we found that if you stay just outside the main strip - but still on the beach - you can save hundreds. a) For example, the all inclusive Holiday Inn called "Cancun Arenas" for a room only will run you $89/night. Two miles up the road is the Holiday Inn Intercontinental Presidente Cancun Resort and will run you $149/night. So if you can walk or take a cab to get to more of the main areas for night life you can save a bundle by staying just off the main strip.

How can you get a great deal on airfare? There are three tricks to getting to Cancun this summer on a budget. First, be flexible regarding time of day. Sometimes just a a few hours makes a big difference in the price. Second, avoid the Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and Labor day. Flights around those times get extremely pricey. Third, leave midweek and stay over a Saturday night. Follow these three tips for the cheapest flight possible.

Another time to avoid for a summer vacation in Cancun is August. August is when many Mexicans visit Cancun so many of the resorts and activities will be booked to the brim. Overbooking always brings a premium prince. June and July are much better bets, but you want to go in August it is imperative that you book early to avoid paying a premium.

Now, once you get there how can you enjoy you summer Cancun vacation while not spending a fortune? First, find a local grocery store You can usually eat for a third of the price of a restaurant by eating breakfast and lunch on your own and then going out for dinner. Second, check out this site to book a tour with a steep discount. Cancun Discounts.com offers tours to all the major sites while providing a good discount. For example, a 12 hour vitit to Chichen Itza will only cost you $55 per adult. That includes transportation and lunch as well.

The key to not blowing your budget is to decide what you are going to do each day before you leave and use the Internet or a travel agent to book it head of time. The tour I mentioned above requires a booking ahead of time and then you bring voucher with on the trip.
