Planning a Trip to Hawaii? Spa Visits and Other Pleasures are a Must

Kirsten Barker
Are you thinking about planning a trip to Hawaii soon? Hawaii is a grand, beautiful place. It has this feeling that is so different from anywhere else. I don't know if it's the air, the people or the views. Most likely, it's all combined into the feeling you get when you step off that plane.

To those who have never been to Hawaii, No we do not live in grass shacks by the ocean, although I wouldn't mind that much. Hawaii has pretty much everything the Mainland has, minus the grumpy business people and fast speed limits. Here in Hawaii we live at a slower pace. That means we actually stop and talk to other people we don't know and most likely we would see someone's uncles brothers son on the way. It's not uncommon to go to pay your electric bill and someone is talking story to the only representative there and you got to wait, but that's the style.

When you're planning to visit our Islands some things to remember are:

On your plane trip, you might want to bring a little carry-on bag just in case the airlines loses your luggage for a day or two. It does happen, so if you have a couple basic things in your carry-on, you will be OK.

Sunscreen is a must. Apply, and re-apply often. You will most likely be spending a lot of time outdoors enjoying the beach, hiking, fishing, etc.

Stop and say hi to the locals, most are happy to talk to visitors and let you know where their favorite spots are to eat, dance and the best hikes to take.

You will not be without the Starbucks and Jamba Juice, Quiznos and even a Macy's on almost every island.

Remember you are on vacation and slow down to enjoy the views. Just don't go to slow, people do work here and also don't like being late.

Make sure to try a spa out. The massages here are great, and I highly recommend the sea salt body scrubs.

Everybody should try Hawaii once, and most end up coming back. It's great to get away but really still be part of the states. Trust me about the feeling; you will understand once you get here.
