Ray Mickol
Plantar warts, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), can be bothersome. The virus enters the body through cuts in the skin. The virus then causes non-cancerous skin growths. Because these growths are usually on the soles of the feet, they can cause pain and discomfort. While sometimes medical treatment is needed to remove plantar warts, there are some effective home remedies for removal of plantar warts.

Symptoms of Plantar Warts

Plantar warts can easily be mistaken for a corn or callus. Plantar warts usually are;

· Small ,grainy or fleshy

· Hard. Flat growths with well defined borders

· Growths in the ridges and lines of the soles of the feet

· Growths with small black pinpoints

Treatment for Plantar Warts

A number of treatments for plantar warts are available from over the counter treatments to professional medical procedures. There are even alternative treatment for plantar warts that work.

Duct Tape

This one has proved over the last few years, to be an effective treatment for warts in general. The wart is covered with duct tape for six days. After six days, it is suggested that the wart is to be soaked in water then rubbed gently with an emery board or pumice stone. The process is then repeated until the wart goes away. It is thought that the duct tape stimulates the body's immune system to attack the virus that caused the wart in the first place. It has been found that this is an extremely effective treatment for children.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been touted as a safe alternative cure for many things. It even has use in removal of plantar warts. It can even be used in conjunction with duct tape therapy. To treat your plantar wart with apple cider vinegar, simply soak a gauze pad in the vinegar and tape the pad over the plantar wart. Make sure you use a fresh pad daily. The wart will eventually turn hard and black. Use a pumice stone or emery board to help facilitate the process.

Garlic

Another giant of the alternative medicine world is garlic. Garlic oil or garlic juice can also be used for the treatment of plantar warts. Just as with the apple cider vinegar treatment, garlic therapy can also be used in conjunction with duct tape. A pad or cotton ball is soaked in garlic juice or oil. The pad is then placed over the plantar wart using tape. This can be regular tape or the duct tape. Remove and repeat this process daily until you see the wart turning black. An emery board or pumice stone is then used to help with wart removal.

The remedies for plantar wart removal have been shown to be safe and effective, especially duct tape therapy. In the case of persistent plantar warts, seek professional medical advice.
