Plantar Warts: Using Duct Tape to Remove Warts, Proven to Be Better Than Freezing

Plantar warts can be embarrassing and very painful. The most common way to remove a wart is by freezing. Although there are other options, freezing was the most common procedure use to treat warts. Most over the counter wart removal medications do not work. In most cases people who suffer from plantar warts have to seek their physician to treat their plantar warts in a more aggressive way.

People who have plantar warts on their feet go through a lot of pain. Walking or even just sitting can be painful. People acquire warts through contact with the human papillomavirus also known as (HPV). There are over 100 different types of HPV. Some types of HPV cause warts on your feet while others cause warts on your fingers, hands, and by your fingernails.

HPV virus isn't highly contagious; it thrives in warm and moist environments. The most common way of contacting this virus is through shower floors, public swimming areas, walking barefoot in public, and locker rooms. HPV is contagious and may be passed from person to person. People who have plantar warts can also spread the warts to other areas, by scratching or from blood from the wart. Not everyone who comes in contact with someone who has a plantar wart will develop a wart. People's immune systems are different so some immune systems respond different to HPV.

In a study done in 2002 people who had plantar warts used duct tape for treating their warts. The duct tape wiped out more warts than the freezing. People in the study covered their warts with duct tape for six days. After the six-day they soaked their wart in water and then they gently rubbed the wart with an emery board. Most people repeated this process for up to two months or until the warts were gone.

Using the duct tape to treat children who have warts was an easier treatment. Most children had pain when freezing was done to treat their warts. Some children are afraid of the freezing method to remove warts. Using duct tape on a child's wart causes no pain at all and they do not have any fear. This makes it easier to treat a child who has warts.

If you are someone who has plantar warts just head out and pick up some duct tape and follow this procedure. This is the best way to remove a wart and the cheapest.
