Summer in the South

The high season for weddings in the South Carolina Lowcountry is March through June and September and October. Temperatures in July and August typically hover in the 90s with high humidity. All that moisture in the air is wonderful for the skin but it does present a challenge for outdoor festivities. Conversely, for those on a budget, off-season pricing helps to bring wedding dreams alive and creative solutions to accommodate less than ideal conditions are not out of the question for experienced event planners.

  • The Charleston area has many historical plantations available for private functions.
  • Most of the plantation properties have wedding consultants on staff to assist the bride and planner.
Drayton Hall on the Ashley River is the only plantation along that route to escape being burned by Union troops during the Civil War.
