Plantronics' Voyager 855 has a convertible design and features a detachable stereo cable so customers can choose whether they want stereo Bluetooth headset when listening to music or convert it to Mono Bluetooth headset when taking calls. The Plantronics Voyager 855 has sound isolating earbuds and a stereo cable that has wireless AVRCPiii remote control capabilities. The Voyager 855 can be converted by dropping the second earbud or detaching the stereo cable. Renee Niemi, general manager and vice president of Plantronics' Mobile and Entertainment Division said that the Voyager 855's stereo cable and fitted earbuds can block out distracting background commotion.
According to Niemi, "Consumers constantly maneuver in and out of noisy, busy surroundings while trying to conduct calls, listen to voicemail or enjoy a song. Whether you're using your phone from a coffeehouse or the back of a cab, you want to hear and be heard clearly and intelligibly and still be able to use both hands. Plantronics delivers on that promise with a headset that adapts to your surroundings and improves audio and call clarity."
Plantronics Voyager 855 also features the company's AudioIQ technology. Plantronics' AudioIQ technology is the company's proprietary adaptive digital signal processing technology that can automatically reduce background noise and adjust audio levels to increase clarity on both sides of the conversation. According to Plantronics, the Voyager 855's battery can last up to seven hours of talk time, six hours when listening to music and up to 160 hours of stand-by time. The Voyager 855 also only weighs 15 grams, making it the smallest and lightest Bluetooth headset, according to Plantronics.
For those who want a mono Bluetooth headset, Plantronics offers the Voyager 815 mono. The Voyager 815 also features a slide-to-talk design, tailor fit earbuds and Plantronics' AudioIQ noise reduction technology. The Voyager 815 can connect with two Bluetooth devices and has the ability to switch from one phone to the other. Plantronics claims that the Voyager 815 has seven hours of talk time and 160 hours of stand-by time.
Plantronics' Voyager 855 stereo Bluetooth headset and Voyager 815 mono Bluetooth headset will be available in October and will cost $149.95 and $129.95, respectively.
