ZLB Plasma Services is located near the OU campus at 1327 E. Lindsey St. I visited this center several years ago and felt at ease in the clean environment. The employees, although busy, were very amiable and professional. Compensation is given in escalating tiers depending on the number of visits. For additional information on ZLB Plasma Services, contact them by phone at (405) 447-9977.
The Oklahoma Blood Institute is the most proactive group in Oklahoma when it comes to collecting much needed blood donations. Along with having donors come to them at fixed donor sites, the Oklahoma Blood Institute also goes to the donors at their work, schools and churches. This encourages donations and familiarizes the public with the process of giving blood. The Oklahoma Blood Institute recently made a trip to my own workplace not too long ago, giving my coworkers a chance to take a break from the job and contribute to a admirable cause.
Also, the Oklahoma Blood Institute provides their donors with specific information on what causes the blood goes to support. According to the website:
"Once testing is completed and the blood is determined to be transfusable, the components are stored appropriately. Red cells are refrigerated and have a shelf life of 42 days; plasma is frozen and can be stored for one year; platelets must be rotated at room temperature and have a shelf life of five days. The stored blood is used to help supply patients in more than 94 hospitals within Oklahoma and Texas. "
The Oklahoma Blood Institute is located at the Sylvan N. Goldman Center at 1001 N. Lincoln Blvd in Oklahoma City. If you need better directions or would like to inquire about additional information, call them at (405) 364-2444 or visit them on the web at www.obi.org. The website has an enormous amount of information to offer including upcoming events, interesting facts and anything you may ever need to know about blood and plasma.
Along with these two locations, there is another plasma donation center on Western St. in Oklahoma City called ILB Plasma. These three locations make it easy for anyone near Oklahoma City, Moore or Norman to donate plasma without having to go too far out of the way. You might walk away with a little extra cash but the real wealth won has nothing to do with cash.
