Dangerous: What inspired the story behind your novel Platinum Dreams?
Jacki Kash: I was inspired by a person whose path I crossed while I was pursuing my music. I said if I ever wrote a book he'd be an interesting character. I also wanted to touch on a story about someone who was trying to make it, but hadn't arrived yet.
Dangerous: Ah, so a man was the inspiration for the story, so do you see yourself as the female lead character, Kayla?
Jacki Kash: No, I made her up, she has a few similar qualities, but mostly she is different from me. We are similar in that she was pursuing her dream and met this wolf in sheep's clothing, but she is a fictitious character.
Dangerous: Which character in the book did this young man you crossed paths with inspire? I hope it was Dre.
Jacki Kash: No, I wish. He was the wolf in sheep's clothing, KD.
Dangerous: I've been trying to guess this on my own, but which two male characters are represented on the cover of the book?
Jacki Kash: Actually, all the models reign from Flint. Gabriel, who's wearing the suit on the front cover represents KD, and Tim, who's on the front and back covers represents Swift.
Dangerous: Oh! I thought the bald guy was Dre. That gives me a new perspective. Did your company name come first or did the novel?
Jacki Kash: The novel was first.
Dangerous: Do you have Platinum Dreams and do you feel that those Platinum Dreams are now a reality?
Jacki Kash: I'm aspiring; platinum dreams is one million sold in any medium. I have a lot of goals and want to touch many people, so the book is just the beginning.
Dangerous: Are you in the process of making Platinum Dreams a movie?
Jacki Kash: Yes, actually I'm working on the screenplay! That was actually one of the goals when I began writing the book, so everything is falling into place.
Dangerous: Wonderful! So, how difficult was it to self publish?
Jacki Kash: It was challenging, but I took a teleclass, read books about the publishing game and prayed a lot. It only took six months to publish, vs. going with a major publisher; it could've taken years to become published.
Dangerous: Great advice for anyone looking to follow in your footsteps. Will you be releasing a book this year?
Jacki Kash: I plan to release my next book either by the end of this year or early next year. It's going to be totally different from Platinum Dreams.
Dangerous: Can we have some spoiler details, please?
Jacki Kash: The next one is going to be a motivational book. Since my future plans include life coaching, this book is being written to help people get from where they are currently to where they want to be in life. It's somewhat based on personal experiences.
Dangerous: I love that idea, and I understand that you're also working on an autobiography. I definitely want to read that. Earlier you mentioned that you have pursued music, is that something that you still devote time to?
Jacki Kash: Not currently, I'm focused on writing and my publishing company. But there is a soundtrack for Platinum Dreams that has allowed me to still have my hands in the music.
Dangerous: Having a soundtrack for the book is ingenious. Is this a formula that you plan to continue?
Jacki Kash: Yes! This is a way to really involve readers in the story. I will definitely incorporate music into the experience as much as I can.
Dangerous: I understand that you're looking for writers. What projects do you have in the works for aspiring authors?
Jacki Kash: I am looking to publish other authors. I would basically design a customized plan for any author Platinum Dreams Publishing represents. I know there are a lot of talented authors around and I'm looking for someone who can offer something new and exciting to readers. It all depends on how far the author is willing to go with their material, a soundtrack and movie deal could possibly follow, it depends.
Dangerous: Wow! Take note all you writers out there. That's exciting news. Do you have any current events or book signings planned for Platinum Dreams or is all your energy now focused on future projects?
Jacki Kash: I have a new distributor, which helps to make this book available in stores nationwide, so I'm planning a book tour for the spring to continue promoting this book as well as the other projects.
Dangerous: Congratulations! Distribution is the key. Where can we buy Platinum Dreams now and how can we stay updated on your career?
Jacki Kash: For more information about me or to buy the book, visit www.platinumdreamspublishing.com. The book is also available at Amazon.com, The Pages Bookstore and other local book retailers.
Dangerous: I want you to know that I enjoyed the story and message that you created in Platinum Dreams. Are there any final words of wisdom that you would like to share with us?
Jacki Kash: Yes, pursue your dreams and pursue them with a passion. Put God first, and always watch out for those wolves in sheep's clothing, especially when you have Platinum Dreams.
