Platinum Hair is Hot for Summer but Will My Natural Color Come Back?

Angel Vee
Bleached white platinum hair is so hot for spring and summer 2011. Wear the platinum by itself, with dark roots, without roots, undertones, or even multi- colors. It doesn't get better than this when it comes to blonde coloring this year.

There are questions regarding this very light and pale tone, and number one being " Does my natural color come back?", or "How can I color my hair back to normal?"

Yes your hair will grow back, but the process can take quite awhile. Think about it. When you bleach white socks, does the color come back no, you stripped all the color out. But with hair the results are different. Yes, you stripped all the pigment out of your hair, but even when hair dies it still comes back. You need to add color and maybe a filler to get close to your natural results. Which color do you choose?

Experimenting for many years the best choice color I feel is red. Wouldn't red on top of white platinum make your hair flame orange? In all reality yes, but we are only using the red base for a filler to add color pigment. Then once the red color is achieved, apply a nice rich brown. This process will get you a nice brown shade with shimmery red highlights.

Once the red highlights fade, you will have a very natural brown. When time to reapply the color in about 4-6 weeks just go with the brown color this time. No need to fill it again. The platinum will not bleed through. What if you want to get back to your natural blonde?

You have to remember after you have bleached your hair and stripped all the color pigment your hair is very porous and needs serious attention. First deep condition the hair, and cut off any mushy ends.

Then invest in a neutral blonde semi color to use as a filler. One of your best choices is Second Nature No Lift Color in light natural blonde. Use the color with 10 volume peroxide. You are only depositing color not lifting so 10 volume is sufficient enough. Leave on the head for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with cold water and dry the hair.

Now choose your permanent hair color. Make sure to gear away from ash, or gold, unless you want your hair brassy, orange, or green, or gray. Stick with a natural blonde. If for some reason your hair still ends up brassy follow up with a toner. Place the toner on the head and allow it to process for 5-15 minutes. Make sure to check every 5 minutes.
