This isn't just any old clothing. It's all very up to date, super trendy, all in terrific condition and absolutely adorable. It's like shopping in a trendy, clothng boutique but at unbelievably low prices. They have only the best clothing in the best condition. The sizes are small. My daughter wears a size 1/3 and I wear a 3/5 so this really works for us. They do carry Medium and Large but nothing bigger than that.
Jeans and capris go for around $14.00-$18.00. I saw beautiful pointed toe slides for $16.00 by BCBG. The only thing that kept me from buying these gorgeous shoes was the "I have nothing Two pf the pants were by Miss Me, one by Lulumari and one by Deep Los Angeles. My daughter found 3 pairs of pants and a wonderful jog suit. If you have a teen ager and live in the area this is the place to take her.
When you walk in there are pocketbooks on the right. Belts are on the opposite wall.. Some of them were only $7.00!!! There is a sunglass display with really great loking sunglasses. Along the window is the reduced merchandise where you can find items for as little as $3.00. The wall over the pocketbooks has great hats. Infront of the cash register area there are hooks with lots of costume jewelry.
The store is extremely clean and bright. There are racks and racks of clothing sorted by size and color. On top of the clothing racks are shoes. One entire wall has all the string tank tops. Two rows of racks are nothing but jeans ($10.00 - $20.00). There are several racks of t shirts and tank tops. You will see Seven for All Mankind and Abercrombie. You will find Juicy Couture, Hollister, Aeropostale, BCBG, Miss Me, Forever 21 and Lucky. All at extremely reasonable prices. The racks are full and they are getting new merchandise in every day. While we were there a really cute gal walked in with her boyfirend , he brought in four cartons of her clothing. My daughter and I both saw this and said at the same time "We're going back tomorrow!" They get the merchandise on the floor very quickly.
When they accept merchandise , they pay cash on the spot. They take only styles that are still in the stores and sell it for 60% below store price. They pay 30% of the store price and will give you a quote which you can accept or reject. They take in clothing Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m. There hours are the same accept they close two hours after the latest clothing acceptance time. They also base their decision to take or reject an tem on the inventory history of a similar item.e a computer to helpo determine the salability of the item.
Plato's Closet is a franchise in operation by the WInmark Company since 1987. Its been a franchise since 1999. In Florida you can also find them in Palm Harbor and St. Petersburg. They are owned by the same company that owns Play It Again Sports. They are a "nationwide unique recycling retail store specializing in clothes for teens and twenty somethings - they buy and sell the latest looks in gently used clothing and accessories from the hottest brand name designers for girls and guys." according to the site.
The shoes were in all styles. There were some sneakers but more high heels, some great peep toes and "pizza" toes and super cute slides. These were as low as $3.00 and ran up to $18.00. Most of them looked as though they'd never touched a floor. Like I said, their items are in almost new condition. None of their items showed any signs of wear.
They have three regular size dressing rooms and one huge dressing room. You hang your clothing rejects on a rack outside the dressing room The store is in a shopping center so the parking is ample and it is wheelchair accessible although it will be a tight fit between the aisles. They are open on Sundays which is fabulous. They offer a punch card which when filled will give you 20% off on your next purchase. The staff is very friendly and efficient and will explain anything you need to know if you want to bring clothing in for sale. It must be in style now, in excellent condition and seasonally appropriate. They don't seem to carry sweaters, jackets or coats.
There is a small are of DVD' s and paperback books, all very current.
As much as I hate giving up this great little secret store it's too good a treasure to keep all to myself.
