Plato's Closet is a unique consignment retail store just for teens and young adults. They buy and sell the latest fashions in used clothing and accessories you have in your closet. This isn't a typical resale store! The process of the store is quick and easy; all you have to do is go through your overflowing closet and pick out the clothes you longer want. They buy and sell everyday, and will pay cash on the spot for the items you sell. Because every assortment of used clothes is changing daily, they will help you find the special one-of-a-kind style for less.
The store began its franchise in late 1999 now has over 130 locations throughout the United States and has also appeared in seventeen magazine and many other teenage magazines. The history of the store begins in Columbus, Ohio by founders Lynn and Dennis Blum. Experienced business owners, they had a long history of recycling success, and turned to their teenage son to help create the name for this new business venture. While doing research for a school project, the Blum's son gained knowledge and respect for the Greek philosopher Plato.

I am going to be opening a store like Platos closet in North Carolina. I would love to talk to a former employee of Plato's Closet and would be willing to pay for your time.

Ok so every time I go to that store I just get even more pissed off. I mean why do those trashy girls behind the counter in their outdated already been used hollister tops think they can turn me and my basically brand new LEI jeans away? ugh.
i shop at platos evrytime i wanna go to da clubs. it is the best place to find them slinky black halter tops and they always have the most cheap jeggins around. i have tried to sell a really cute brand new no boundaries skirt to them and they woulnt take it. im pretty pissd about it, but i still gotta get my clubbin clothes from thur.
Okay I work at Plato's closet, just because you buy something for over a hundred doesnt meant youl get money back for that price. Its a discount store. With discount prices.
ok guys. Seriosly calm down. 1st of all - take in a $100 pair of jeans to them. Clearly they can't sell them for $100. They are a DISCOUNT store. So, how could they pay YOU full/50% off what you paid and then sell it to money savy kids for $20.00?? How would they make money? They are picky because they are running a business. You would understand if you work there.
I work at a platos Closet and I am by no means "trashy." Almost everyone on here does not realize we have to follow rules. Nobody undersatnds unless you work there the kind of rules and things we have to do. I have to take a test almost every month in order to keep my job. You are being judemental because of one platos, but there are rude and "trashy" people everywhere. Everything the other girl said that used to work there is true. You know before you come in you get 30-40% of what you paid.
okay, so I went their and all the workers were extremely trashy and of course took my juicy sweater, my lime green (neon almost, from an 80's party) skinny jeans, and an ugly aeropostale shirt. they left behind my preppy ralph lauren and j crew clothes. I got $15 bucks, and at least now I know what to bring in. Trashy forever 21 stuff. However, the store itself was ok. Kind of gross, but they did have good deals. LIke pink searsucker Lilly Pulitzer pants for $16! BUt there was trasy clothes too. Its like a treasure hunt, theres more bad than good. I will go back there, to sell and possibly buy. They have amazing deals on books. 2 dollars, and 6 for movies!
I have never even been to Plato's closet, but I was hoping to go sometime soon. I understand if they don't take most used clothing, but I have a few unused peices I want to sell. It sounds like crappy store, but Im still going to try to sell. I'll decide whether or not its bad service. :)
