Play the Baby Name Game

Are you having a baby? Do you have some names picked out, but cannot decide which one you like the best? Are your friends and family all eager to give their opinion and help with the naming process? If you find the decision too difficult to handle or if you simply want to see which name will come out on top, play the baby name game. It is fun and will give you something to do during those last weeks of pregnancy waiting for the baby to arrive.

MAKE YOUR LIST OF NAMES: Find names that you like. Look on the internet and in baby name books to find names you like. Write the names that you really like down on a list.

MAKE UP A GAME SHEET: Make a list on your computer of the Boys names and the Girls names in two different columns. If you know what you are having you could eliminate one of the columns. You could have everyone put a check beside the name they like best. Or you could have everyone number the names from 1 through 5, or however many names you have. One being the name they like the best and 5 being the name they like the least. If you decide to do it this way, be sure to write a set of directions at the top of the page or your game sheets will be wrong when they are returned to you.

SEND OUT THE GAME SHEETS: Send the game sheets out to your friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else who you would like to have an opinion from. You could send them over e-mail or through the mail. Put directions on how they can vote for their favorite name or names and add in the directions that everyone needs to send their results back to you. Make sure to include your return address if you are mailing these game sheets out.

DECLARE THE WINNING NAME: When you get all of the game sheets back it the mail it will be fun to set down and go through them to see who liked which name. You will then be able to tally up the votes to see which names scored the highest and which names were not popular among the voters.

This is a really fun way to see what everyone thinks of the baby names that you have picked out. You could even add a comment section at the bottom of your game sheets for suggested names. It would be fun to see the results you get with that. Have fun, even if you don't decide to use the most popular name.
