Play These Games with Your Kids on a Car Trip

If you have kids you know they can be quite the hassle when you go on a long car trip. The best way to keep your kids from hassling you is to keep them entertained. A lot of people now just hand their kids a handheld video game. Don't get a handheld video game though they're useless. Instead play one of these great car games on your next trip.

The Alphabet Game
The Alphabet game was one of my favorite games to play on a car trip. The object of the game is to find a sign that starts with each letter of the alphabet. When you find a sign that starts with the letter A you then move on to B, then C, and so on. The first one to get through the alphabet wins.

The TV Theme Game
In this game somebody choose a theme from a TV show and hums the song. The other people playing try and guess which theme song it is.

The Baseball Game
This game can really be played on your car trip using a topic other than baseball. That is just what we used to choose when I was a kid. One person would start off and name anybody they wanted. The next person would then have to name somebody whose first name starts with the last letter of the previous person. For example if I chose David Wright the last letter in his name is "T" so the next person would have to name a player whose first name starts with T.

The Animal Game
In this car game everybody tries to spot animals on the side of the roads. Before everybody starts looking everybody agrees to give a certain point value for each animal they might see. Each time you see an animal you get the amount of points that coincides with that animal.

License Plate Game
Give each one of your kids a piece of paper listing all of the states. During your car trip have the kids look at the license plates of the cars as they pass and cross off each state when they see a license plate from that state.

License Plate Game 2
There is another good car game that involves license plates. One person picks a license plate and calls out the letters on the license plate. Everybody in the car must then come up with a phrase in which each word starts with each of the letters from the license plate. For example if the letters on the license plate were JCR then the obvious phrase would be Jennifer Connelly Rocks.

Scavenger Hunt
Before leaving on your car trip write down a list of things for your kids to look for while they are in the car. Each kid gets a list and when they see one of the items on the list they scratch the item off the list.
