Play Word Challenge by Playfish on Facebook and Win

Sheri Fresonke Harper
Word Challenge is one of the new games by Playfish on Facebook. It's an old favorite from Yahoo land and around but it comes to Facebook with a very challenging dictionary. So if it's an old game, why play it on Facebook and how do you win?

The game is basically an unscramble word game where you're given 6 letters and asked to make as many 3-letter or larger words. The other part of the game is the typed data entry-this makes it easy to enter answers and also a good test for your typing skills. Here's the best tactics for scoring big.

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish using Rhymes

When you find a word, look for all the rhymes for that same word before looking for other words. The reason for doing this is because they are easy to find and type. Most of my wasted time is from mistyped words.

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish by Unscrambling the Largest Words First

I always try for the 6-digit word first-they're often weighted higher. Sometimes it is easier to see it by clicking the double-arrowed button to the left of the words so that the letters stir to a new order. Often the largest words are made using an "ed", "ing" or "s" ending and that means you've found two words really quickly. Be sure to type both right away. If you find "ing", "s" or "ed" in your set of letters, know to always add the plural, or other tense to your basic word.

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish by Filling in Alphabetically

Once all the easy words are found, I start looking at what I've entered. Often, I think I've added a word and it's not there. Adding it helps improve my score. Also, all entries are listed on the screen in alphabetical order. That means if there's an word missing between "are" and "cat" it is likely to be "bat" or other word that comes alphabetically next.

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish by Remembering Common Consonant Groupings

If your letter set has a large group of consonants, go through all the combinations of consonants like "cl", "st", "sh", "th", "thr", "str", "bl" to find additional words. Note: "g" and "p" often requires "h".

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish by Remembering Common Consonant Endings

The most common consonant endings on words include "le", "gh", "th", "tch", "re", "ing", "ly". If you remember to check for these combinations at the end of the word, it's often easier to find the other half of the word from the remaining letters.

Win with Word Challenge by Playfish by Reading the Missing Words

Some of the toughest words to get in Word Challenge by Playfish are the uncommon three letter words that are seldom used. Read and memorize the ones that show up all the time to add to your overall score.

Playing Word Challenge by Playfish Can Allow You to Win ...
