With the release of his first film, Dale Davis a 15 year NBA veteran and forward for The Detroit Pistons brings back the gold-digger (and perhaps his days in the league) with Playas BALL. Playas BALL is a collaborative project between Davis' W.A.R. Entertainment and CODEBLACK ENTERTAINMENT.
"BALL," stars Allen Payne(The Cosby Show, Jason's Lyric, Tuskegee Airmen, A Perfect Storm, New Jack City), in the lead role of Cedric Tinsley, a 27-year-old professional basketball player. Cedric is the picture of perfection and the sort of athlete Nike contracts for their Commercials. He is handsome, talented, rich and is the envy of his boys with his live-in Model girlfriend.
On the heels of signing an endorsement contract that will set him up for life, a woman surfaces from his past and sues him for paternity. Join me in on the next verse: "..and when he get on, he'll leave your a** for a white girl."
The problem arises when Cedric claims to have never met the woman before eventhough the paternity results prove otherwise. The race is on and Cedric must prove his innocence or lose everything. He has no other choice but to make the play of his life.
The movie has some interesting twists and keeps the audience in suspense wading through the never-ending matrix of greedy and materialistic "playas" that make this movie somewhat UN-predictable (yes I borrowed from Jamie).
The cast includes cameos by NBA All-Stars Scottie Pippen and Derek Anderson. Other cast notables include Elise Neal(All Of Us (UPN), Hustle & Flow, Paid In Full, Scream 2),Anthony "Treach" Criss (The Sopranos, Third Watch, Book of Love, member of Naughty By Nature) and MC Lyte(Half & Half (UPN), Civil Brand, rapper/multi-platinum artist).
This film is certainly one to check out . Honey, just make sure the kiddies aren't around 'cause there are some scenes in this movie that feature tricks straight out of the Gold-digger/Playas handbook!
