PLAYBOY Centerfolds from the 1980's

Playboy came into creation in the 50's, persevered through the 60's, and continued publication success throughout eh 1970's. Gracing the insides of the magazine, regardless of what articles people may have claimed to be reading, were the nude women of the centerfolds. These models were the driving force behind Hugh Hefner's empire and artful magazine and now this article continues a series in sharing the information of some of the more notable faces t pose. This is Playboy Centerfolds from the 1980's.

Liz Glazowski: Playmate centerfold for April of 1980 Liz is of Polish descent. She became a centerfold after entering a contest search for models for the magazine. Liz stood by her faith in articles accompanying her pictorials, claiming strong Catholic roots and beliefs; bet that went over well with the Pope. Liz went on to become the President of a company producing her husbands invention: Studtrainer. Possibly you've heard of it? Liz went from affecting men's sexual organs via her nude layouts to strengthening them via a penis weight system exercise product.

Ola Ray: Born in Saint Louis, Missouri, Ola became the centerfold of the June 1980 issue. Ola's star of fame rose when she starred alongside Michael Jackson in the music video for his song "Thriller." However fame often has a way of coming and going and hers left with announcing retirement in the mid-80's due to allegations of producers sexually harassing her when she tried out for parts. In 1992 Ola Ray was arrested for possession of cocaine and spent some time in rehab. In 1998 she sued the makers of the Thriller video for profits promised; which netted her $10,000 and then she took a job hosting Playboy parties in California.

Karen Elaina Price: Price was the centerfold for January of 1981. She followed the trend of many Playmates and went into acting, however it wasn't long before her film work took a turn of creative difference, in comparison to other models. Karen became a stunt woman. She performed work in over two dozen films such as Leonard 6, Police Academy 2, and The Golden Child. Then she went on to success as a television show producer.

Shannon Lee Tweed: One of the more famous names to have posed for Playboy in the 1980's, Tweed had the centerfold for November 1981. Tweed is well known for her work in erotic thriller movies such as the Night Eyes series starting with part 2. Tweed is also well known for being the live in love and mother of Gene Simmons children. Gene of course being that long tongued freak of a guitarist from the painted up band: KISS.

Liz Stewart: She was the centerfold for July of 1984. American born Liz started her own business in 1988 called: Liz Stewart Development & Design. This company is a residential construction and design firm in Los Angeles. Stewart's works have appeared in many magazines with positive recognition.

Julie Michelle McCullough: This Hawaii born Playmate of Irish heritage, took centerfold honors in February of 1986. Controversy surrounded Julie when she embarked on her Playboy career because she was also known for her work on the sitcom Growing Pains as the nanny Julie Costello. Subsequently, due to her nude works the sitcom fired Julie. Julie now does work as a stand up comedian.

Teri Weigel: April of 1986 saw Teri Weigel as the Playboy centerfold. Starring in many bit parts in mainstream films it seemed Teri's true calling came in the adult film industry. As a pornographic actress Teri had her work honored by AVN Awards when she was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame.

Rebekka Lynn Armstrong: Rebekka became the Playboy centerfold of September 1986. In 1989 she tested positive for HIV, which she came out publicly with in 1994. Rebekka became a famous face publicly identified with the disease and uses the shock of the public and her celebrity status to help bring awareness to prevention and control of the illness.

Marina Baker: An English model and the Playboy centerfold for March of 1987 Marina was not a one career woman, nor to be mistaken for a nudist floozy. Aside from some acting roles she became a journalist and then even wrote a children's book. Next she took on politics serving as a mayoress for some time and overall becoming well known for her unique stances. Marina is a practicing Wiccan witch.

Sharry Konopski: August 1987 was the year Sharry graced the centerfold spread. She went on to star in some Playboy videos, however her career would be changed by tragedy. In 1995 a car accident made her a paraplegic; paralyzed from the waist down. However, tragedy may have took her walking ability, but not her ability to continue modeling and also star in videos specially catering to people with her same condition.

India Allen: India may be known as the December 1997 centerfold or the 1988 Playmate of the year. Or she may be most known by those who tuned into to witness the fiasco that was the OJ Simpson murder trial and subsequent proceedings. India was a witness at the civil trail in which she testified that she witnessed OJ physically striking Nicole Brown in 1983.

Kimberley Conrad: The centerfold for January if 1988, she became the focus of worldwide media scrutiny when she married Playboy founder and ladies man Hugh Hefner. The pair are now split, however they did have two children together, sons: Marston and Cooper.

Emily Arth: An American actress and model she became the Playboy centerfold in June of 1988. Her career afterwards revolved around the world of wrestling as she became Vince McMahon's personal assistant. In 1991 she left the company and testified against McMahon in his steroid distribution trial in 1994.

Erika Maya Eleniak: July of 1989 saw Erika as the Playboy centerfold, however most fans probably remember seeing her more often in a red swimming suit. Erika starred as the lead on Baywatch, as Shauni McClain, before Pamela Anderson came along and eventually replaced her. Erika was also seen in the Steven Segal action hit Under Siege, along with other films.

Reneé Tenison: In 1989 she was the centerfold for November. Later her modeling career has her posing for Playboy with her twin sister. Tenison became the first African American to be named Playmate of the Year.

The women of Playboy live lives that aren't always glitz and glamour, and yet they aren't always your stereotypical babes with boobs on the intelligence meter. Fame in some cases was kind and in others not so much, but whatever the personal case and story behind the women, fortune was indeed achieved for Playboy magazine, thanks to the modeling of these women.
