She was Placed in Federal Custody After Anxiety Caused Her to Panic During Flight

"The New York Post" reported that 21 year old Playboy Bunny, Tiffany Livingston was on a Jetblue flight from Orlando to Newark and suffered from anxiety, panicking mid-flight. She jumped from her seat and tried to open the door. A source told CBSnews.com, "she's gone through this before, but never this bad, and didn't have her medication." Also reported by "The New York Post" that she was stopped by two off duty police officers. And that the young brunette was featured as a centerfold in the Playboy debut of the magazine VIP, the Singapore version of Playboy.

Playboy model Tiffany Livingston is not the first celebrity that has suffered from panic and anxiety attacks, and she will definitely not be the last. It may be harder for actors, models, singers and public figures to deal with these issues since they are always in the public eye and being judged. Stress, panic and anxiety attacks affects 2.4 million Americans alone, and is twice as likely to strike women as it is men. Being someone who has had anxiety attacks before I can empathize with those, even celebrities who suffer from them.

Singer and Academy Award winner Barbra Streisand has been very vocal throughout her career about her personal problems with anxiety. During a concert in New York's Central Park in 1967 when she forgot the lyrics to a song she was not able to ignore it. For almost three decades after that she struggled to perform in public. She did not confront her anxiety and fears until New Year's Eve 1994 when she performed in Las Vegas. Since then in 2006 she revealed on "Oprah" she had been taking anxiety medication. And also had received therapy from the president of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Even while battling her phobia she has managed to have an extremely successful career acting, singing and directing.

Kim Basinger is another successful celebrity who has a history of suffering from anxiety. She has spoken publicly about her problems with agoraphobia, panic disorder and social anxiety. She helped raise awareness of these problems by not only speaking to the public about them, but appearing in the HBO film, "Panic: A Film About Coping". In regards to her struggle she stated "Fear has been something I've lived with my entire life, the fear of being in public places - which led to anxiety or panic attacks," she says. "I stayed in my house and literally cried every day." Even faced with debilitating anxiety she has made a name in Hollywood, even winning a best supporting actor Oscar for her role in the movie "L.A. Confidential".

There are many celebrities who suffer from a variety of anxiety issues and still have a wonderful career and are extremely successful. As with the cases of Barbra Streisand and Kim Basinger it is possible for Playboy model Tiffany Livingston to thrive in her career. There is no reason her career should suffer from this incident. With the proper support and treatment there is no reason her career should suffer in the future. If she controls her anxiety and does not let it control her she can be successful. If you or someone you know needs help with anxiety issues you can find help and resources at the Anxiety Disorders Association of America.
