Carving out the box
Spaceship, airplane, submarine
The joy is endless.
Growing up, my brother and I frequently did just that. I remember drawing all sorts of spaceship buttons inside, and Dad carving windows into the side with a sharp knife. We would take pillows and blankets into our pretend spaceship, and even eat snacks in there. Over the years we spent hours developing our imaginations with the simple cardboard structure. It is fun to see generations repeat the pattern of creative fun.

Post a CommentBrings back great memories. My kids had a lot of fun with large cardboard boxes. I even wrote an article about some of the fun things we made out of them.
Kristen, this is great! I don't remember experiencing these joys, but my son has, and I loved watching.
The days of finding fun creatively and as a family are gone. Now everything is impersonal, each by himself/herself, cocooned - siva
I love this series, another good one.
Oh I have fond memories of making a house out of an appliance box. My mother made windows with curtains, and let me keep the box in the kitchen until I was ready to throw it out.
Love it! I remember my siblings and I playing in boxes- the bigger, the better! Ha.
I loved playing in those huge appliance boxes. They are so simple, yet they are so complex when you think about how many things a box can become through imagination.
I did this...great fun for a kid.
Glad you're back doing these haikus!
Excellent ♥
