Playing Hollywood Matchmaker: Find out Which Celebrities Need to Hook Up

Henry Lamb
Celebrity hook - ups are a regular tabloid favorite. For the longest time, people have always had an inexplicable fascination for the latest romantic gossip on their favorite stars.

Sometimes, celebrity pairings tend to shock, or even evoke repulsion from fans. In a perfect world, Britney Spears would never have dated Kevin Federline, and we all would've been spared from the sight of Lisa Marie Presley kissing Michael Jackson. But this is not a perfect world. The best we can do is cross our fingers and brace ourselves while anticipating the latest Hollywood rumor.

To those who are a bit more imaginative, we can always fantasize about matching up our favorite celebrities and setting them up on fictitious dates. Sounds like a good idea? Perfect. We're going to do just that right now.

· WHO: Cameron Diaz and Wentworth Miller

WHY: Cameron reportedly just split from much younger boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Obviously Cameron needs more than a pretty boy, she needs a MAN! And Wentworth Miller is definitely a hot single man!

WHERE: California girl Cameron can spend some quality time with Wentworth walking up the slopes of Mount Soledad. They can enjoy an incredible view of San Diego while waiting for the sun to set. It can get chilly at night too -- Perfect excuse for a nice, warm cuddle.

· WHO: Brittany Murphy and John Mayer

WHY: Brittany is a musician herself; she was the lead singer of her own band in the 1990's. Her fun, quirky personality is a refreshing contrast to John's more laid - back, introspective nature. These two would definitely make a cute couple.

WHERE: Connecticut - grown John can serve up a cozy picnic for Brittany on the Gillette Castle State Park grounds. Imagine the two humming love songs with John's guitar while peacefully looking over the Connecticut River -- a simple and quiet but memorable first date.

· WHO: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Josh Hartnett

WHY: There's no denying that these two hot brunettes would look good together. Sweet, sunny Jennifer and the intense but mild - mannered Josh will probably find that they have so much in common if they just grab the chance to know each other a little better.

WHERE: Texas lass Jennifer can engage the perpetually gorgeous Josh in a little heart - to -heart chitchat while on board the Austin Steam Train. They'll have a leisurely afternoon riding through the hill country, taking in all the picturesque views. Just the right setting for that long getting - to - know - you conversation.

· WHO: Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom

WHY: The two seemed to have great on - screen chemistry in the movie Elizabethtown. We wonder how that spark translates off - camera?

WHERE: Kristencan rediscover New Jersey by spending a relaxing weekend with Orlando in one of its most beautiful beach towns - Cape May. The two canenjoylong, intimate walks on the beach, visit museums, or trade childhood memories while bird - watching. One idyllic weekend and it won't be long before they start writing the script to their own love story.

· WHO: Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves

WHY: Yes, Sandy's already happily married to Jesse James. But it's always so absorbing to see Sandra and Keanu working together in a film. The two seem to have an easy, comfortable chemistry with each other, and both have readily admitted that they are close friends. Perhaps a lovely platonic bonding session wouldn't be so bad.

WHERE: Keanu might want to take Sandra out to dinner in a trendy Los Angeles restaurant like Providence on 5955 Melrose Avenue. Both could look forward to a delightful evening reminiscing about the good times over scrumptious seafood like the peekytoe crab and the freshwater Japanese eel.

The celebrities that we want to hook up may not always end up being a couple. But hey, at least we can give their romance a chance in fantasyland. Try making a fictitious Hollywood romance of your own. Practice your creativity. It's a fun way to tune out your boss during tedious office meetings.
