Las Vegas is one of the most captivating and diverse places in the Northern Hemisphere. Vegas has glamor, shows, gourmet food and the excitement of possibly coming home rich beyond belief. I'm going to clue you in right now. Chances are you won't come home rich, in fact if you aren't careful or unless you are very rich you might just come home regretting that you couldn't;t gt off of that poker machine.
Gambling is not my personal vice, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. I can sit for hours on one of those cute machines that have all of the extra features if you happen to hit the right choice of lines. The games that normally are fun to play become really fun to play at this point. Chances of winning a bit more lucrative if you continue to win. The best thing is is that you can have all this fun for pennies. Yes I said, pennies. Most machines will give you one hundred credits for $1. That translates into 100 points. Most games will cost you around 45 cents to play all the lines you need to play to win something of significance.
Are you done laughing yet? Let me tell you that you can win some money playing pennies and even if you don't win beg you can win enough to keep playing for the rest of your stay in Las Vegas. My husband and I often drive to Vegas just to play a bit, that and just to get away from all of the stress that everyday living takes on us. I look at it as a mental health trip. We often go with little more than money to pay for our gas and a little something to get us started playing on those penny machines. We usually, though not always win at least enough to keep on playing. Between the two of us, we often find that one of us is winning something. There have actually been times when we have won big! OK, not big, exactly but big for playing pennies. Several times my husband or I have won close to $100 at one time. That's a lot of pennies. Not only that after joining the Player's Club and obtaining a Player Card that you insert in the machine of your choice while playing, you can get a lot more for your money. The card tracks how much money and what kinds of games you are playing. The card is free upon asking at the Player's Club in any casino. If you can't find it, just ask.
Most casino's love to have you join the Player's Club. It assures that you just might choose to spend your money in their facility. Along with those bungee cords that come attached to the card, plenty of casinos offer something else, just for joining. Most of these things are free and if not free, all are cheaper than normal cost. You are usually offered some kind of free souvenir or trinket with your player card. Redeem those coupons. The item may not be expensive but it will give you some free token to take home to your kids. A lot of casinos offer a free meal at the buffet of your choice in their casino if you join. If not free, most will give you a two for one deal. Make sure that you keep your player card with you though. Those points add up quickly. Even though my husband and I go to Las Vegas only a couple of times a year we usually get stays offered to us in some of the hotel/casinos. The last offer we received was for any four nights in a row through-out two months as long as there was a night between four day stays. This is in a decent hotel folks. One offer wanted to give us two free nights along with $75 in cash to spend how we wanted in the casino. How is that for a deal? This is just to bring us back into the hotel where we will give them our business.
You can also find major deals on your meals in Las Vegas. Many casino booklets or magazines that cater to locals as well as tourists offer discounts on meals and many also offer two for one deals. You can also find specials in most casino hotel cafes, that offer food for as little as $2, and best of all some of them are served 24 hours a day. Now couple this with not paying for your room and well-you can see where I am going with this. Pennies, right? Did I also tell you that if you are gambling drinks are free? They most certainly are though you are expected to offer a small tip to the server who will bring you a drink at your machine or table. This tip can be as little as 50 cents. Now you are drinking, eating, staying and oh yes, gambling for mere pennies. Great, huh?
If you want the best deals around and you want to win a little more often try a casino/hotel a bit off of the Las Vegas Strip. The Strip though exciting and fun is sometimes crowded and more expensive than in the off-the-strip, local casinos. Go where the locals go. If you aren't sure just ask a local. They will welcome you and give you good advice on where to go for cheap. Some of the truly great food is in those small casinos. It also seems as though you win a little more often in the locals casinos. All those people who live in Vegas don't want to throw all of their money away and they like to have fun too.
Remember if you don't play, you can't win and it doesn't need to cost you your first born.
So if you're going out west anytime soon, and you are thinking about visiting Las Vegas, check out some of these ideas. Who knows you just may win and all it will cost you is pennies.

Post a CommentGreat tips! I'm not big on gambling, but I do hope to get to Vegas one day.
I just thought I'd add this as an update. My hubby and I went to Vegas last weekend and spent two nights free at a decent hotel with a complimentary card that came in the mail from the casino, got one buffet for two free, saw a first run movie free and I won $1000 playing nickels. Nice weekend huh?
Great advice, I enjoy gambling yet I get very stressed if I feel like I'm betting too much. :)
Sounds like a great way to get away from it all. Thanks for the tips. Are there any specific Casinos you would suggest to find the Penny slots?
Which reminds me of the time I played just one quarter in a three quarter machine and hit the progressive jackpot of $51,000+. Of course, I didn't win the jackpot because I had only played one quarter;) Love to play the slots. And you're right, Vegas can be cheap.
I love those machines!
Yes, it's all true. I once hit a penny slot machine for close to $150, and I wasn't even playing the maximum bet at the time. Some machines that have a reputation for paying decent amounts include "Magic Unicorn", "Frog Prince", "Lobstermania", and "Texas Tea".
Nice tips.
Good tips! :)
Great topic! We sometimes go to casinos and watch the Penny Slot players win $8,000 on their machines. WOW - never knew you could do that.
