Playstation 2 Game Cheats and Walkthroughs

Find Them Through Magazines, Strategy Guides, and by Searching Sensibly Online

Christina VanGinkel
Searching for Playstation 2 game cheats and walkthroughs is a common online activity, performed daily, by literally thousands of kids and adults alike. Oftentimes, you can be quickly pointed in the right direction. Simply by typing in the title of the game and Playstation 2, you will often uncover cheats and walkthroughs. Any major search engine, such as Yahoo or Google, will usually reward your search with numerous hits. Sometimes though, it is not quite that simple.

New Game Cheats may be Scarce

If the Playstation 2 game you are searching out cheats for, is relatively new, cheats and walkthroughs may be scarce or even non-existent. Thankfully, most games are simultaneously released with strategy guides, available for purchase separately, that will give detailed instructions on walkthroughs. While some strategy guides do include cheats, they are mostly innocuous cheats to get from one level to the next or to help uncover secrets, not the cheats that provide unlimited health, God mode, or weapons unleashed. These are rarely included in strategy guides. If you are looking specifically for cheats though, skip the strategy guides, as they are most likely not what you are looking for, and check out a few places such as http://www.gamefaqs.com/, http://www.psx2codes.com/, or http://www.gamespy.com/ .

Game Magazines

Video Game magazines, such as GamePro magazine (http://www.gamepro.com/) and the Playstation 2 magazine (I found it online deeply discounted in comparison to its newsstand price at both http://www.mags4cheap.com/, and http://www.magazines.com/), are both good sources for Playstation 2 game cheats. Subscribe or buy these magazines locally for up to date cheats that oftentimes cannot be found anywhere else.

Use Quotation Marks Correctly, when Searching Online

If you must depend on the Internet for cheats and walkthroughs, knowing how to search correctly, can go a long way towards getting the links to pages you want. Make sure to use "quotation" marks around your search. Instead of typing Playstation 2 Cheats San Andreas, type in "Playstation 2 cheats San Andreas", or better yet, Playstation 2 "cheats San Andreas". Substitute the word 'walkthrough' in place of 'cheats' if this is your intended search.

Quotation marks used correctly will also help narrow your search. The first way I typed it minus quotation marks, is apt to return hits for every single word and phrase that could possibly be conceived from those words. In fact, when I typed that in (I used the Google search engine), I was provided with nearly two million hits. The second search, with quotation marks around the entire phrase, awarded me only 14 hits, too few actually. While the third attempt, where I used quotation marks around a specific part of the phrase, provided me with 33,000 hits. While a large number, the most relevant hits were on the first and second pages of links. My point being, that if you conduct a search for a game's cheats one way, and end up with far too many, too few, or links that are not relevant, try your search in an alternative way to provide yourself with the most applicable links.
