Playstation 2: Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol

Have you ever sat down to watch American Idol and thought to yourself "That person sucked! I could out sing them any day; Why are they even on here?" Well here is your chance to prove that you can out sing not only them but all of your friends and family as well. Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol is the game that lets you belt out over 40 songs to compete for top Idol. You also get the chance to hear Simon and Randy rate your performance. Don't be mad if they don't tell you what you want to hear though; after all this is their job. This game by Konami is a great addition to your collection. You can play a competion alone or throw a party and let up to seven more people join in. You also get to create your own character with a large (often humorous) variety of looks from which to choose or just use the Eye toy to place your own image on the game. There are the Karaoke Revolution modes such as Duets, KR challenge and Medley to keep you playing until you become "The Next American Idol."

I purchased this game with the sole intention of having some fun with my daughters. We are avid American Idol fans and of course we love to sing our hearts out to the radio while driving down the road. So I figured it would be a lot of fun to sing along to all the songs they sing on American Idol. The first couple of songs did not go over so well. We found it difficult to keep our voices in the lines and of course Randy was so sweet to tell us that our pitch was way off. Simon just shook his head and said, "Awful." After a few tries we were singing like pros. Of course we were excited and continued our game for hours. When I bought the game my husband was not at all excited. "Oh great, No more American Idol, Please!" he said but after watching us for a few minutes he asked if he could try. Now every time we play he is right there singing along. The first month that I owned the game I recommended it to everyone I came into contact with. I would tell them about it and then I would throw an American Idol party to show what it was like having this game. I convinced most of my friends and family to purchase one for themselves.

The only downfall of this game is that there are not enough songs to keep it fresh. Once you have started to master most of them you get bored and want to try something new. They could have also thrown another microphone in with the original purchase. You cannot access the Duets mode unless you have two microphones so we had to go out and purchase another one to play it.

Overall this is a wonderful addition to our steadily growing Playstation 2 game collection. It has helped with solving the "family time dilemma" because all of us will find time to play. I told my husband that next year when tryouts come around I am going to take all of us on there to tryout. When they ask us, "Who told you that you could sing?" I am going to say, " You did on Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol."

A great article. You were right on the money when you stated they need to include more songs! A fun game and if they add more songs to there next idol game I think it would be even more enjoyable.
