Playstation 3 Sells for Over $100,000 on Ebay
Are Buyers Insane?
On Ebay just recently a package of two Playstation 3's and 20 video games sold for a sum of over $100,000 on Ebay. Are these buyer's insane? Someone is over capitalizing on these bundles due to the shortage of playstation 3's on the market for the holidays. It is all about timing. A month from now when these systems are made available in larger quantities to retailers the hype will die down. For now I have to kick myself for not standing in the long lines to get my hands on one of the new Playstation 3 systems. I could have turned around and sold it on Ebay for at least five times what it was worth. One lucky seller made a cool $102,000 with a $2000.00 investment. That is a better return rate than any stock market could ever hope to give.
Is it wrong for an individual to capitalize on the scarcity of the gaming systems? I think the answer is pretty easy. No, not at all. If the manufacturer's want to play their cards as they do by witholding the systems and releasing them in small numbers, then that is their loss. I do think that consumers can be a little insane when it comes to spending massive amounts of money for these systems, but then again...you have to look at the other aspect of the sale. Someone is making a nice little profit and helping to boost the economy in the process.
