Playstation 3 Versus Nintendo Wii: Which is Right for You?

The next big gaming consoles to hit the market is the Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii. While having some similar features, the do have some big differences. Which one is a bigger bang for your buck? That depends on how much you have to spend and what you want out of your console. We will compare the top models for each console.

The Playstation 3 was set to be released around the same time as the XBox 360 but was suddenly delayed with the promise of 4-D gameplay. It was rumored that Playstation saw XBox's 360 graphics and ran back to the lab because theirs was not up to par. Also included in the higher priced model is a 60-gig hard drive and a HDMI connection specifically for high-definition TV's. Of course they are going to have online play (similar to XBox Live) but the big difference is that they plan to offer it for free.

The controller is basically the same as the old models but has new motion sensors that register your movements. How much the motion sensor actually is involved in the gameplay has yet to be seen. As for the size of the actual console it has actually grown from the Playstation 2. The only bad thing about the PS3 is the price tag. The top model can be yours for the huge price $599.00. Yes, you read that correctly. All of these features are great but for the average teenage gamer, this may be out of reach.

Nintendo Wii, however, has only one model that is promised to have under a $250.00 price tag.Like PS3 it also has free online gaming, but the Wii has revamped the traditional controller into a sort of remote. This remote not only has motion sensors and speakers in the center (unlike PS3) it has rumble.

Also an added bonus is the Wii has classic games right on its hard drive that can be accessed for free at anytime. The biggest highlight for the Wii is along with the online play, you will also be able to surf the web and write emails. The downside is the graphics are not much better than the Nintendo's previous console the GameCube.

In conclusion, if you want a console that has amazing graphics and do not mind forking out some dough, than the PS3 is going to be your best choice. On the other hand, if you dont mind having some not so stellar graphics with a lot more extras than the Wii is going to be the best bang for it's buck. Happy gaming!
