Full game trials
For one hour, Playstation Plus members get full game trials. This month's trial is Infamous. Infamous is a great game, but many PSN users already have it. Another problem is the one hour trial time. Don't plan on eating or using the bathroom during that hour. You get an hour, that's it, no breaks, no restarting. On the plus side, if you decide to buy the game, all your trophies and saved data will be there.
Automatic Downloads
Automatic downloads are also a part of the new Playstation Plus service. Members can set their PS3 to update, download demos, and other services at any time. This mean no more turning on the PS3 only to find out you need to download an update. It's great the PS3 will download demos as soon as they're released and you can play without waiting. The downside is demos and videos will be downloaded whether you're interested in them or not.
Free games and add-ons
The Playstation Plus service features free games and DLCs. One of this month's games is WipoutHD. It's been available to buy for over a year, so the people really interested probably own it already. Other games include Age of Zombies and Rally Cross. Add-ons still require purchase of the full game. If you don't own the game, the add-ons aren't very appealing. Even if you download the free game of the month, you still need to subscribe to Plus in order to play. Cancel your subscription and the game isn't available unless you renew.
Other features of Playstation Plus
Also included are Playstation Store discounts of up to 50% on certain games and DLCs. Another feature is exclusive offers on avatars and themes. A subscription to the online magazine Qore is in Plus. Early access to demos and beta invitations are also included.
It's only the first month for Playstation Plus and I feel it has potential. Sony says it's working on cross game chat for the future. Also, Hulu Plus is supposed to available for PS3 Plus members soon, but the details are slim.

Post a CommentNicely done, I am emailing this link to my niece - the gamer. cheers :)
Very nice review. It sounds like Sony has thought about some of these features, especially tha ability to download when the PS3 is not being used. As far as downloading games that you are not interested in, I assume it's easy enough to delete them.
Nice write up
thanks for the info! =)
