Guessing what my favorite color is
Guessing what size I wear
Guessing which fragrance "suits" me
Wondering if I prefer silver or gold
Imagining that I need another pretty knick-knack
To collect dust and take up shelf space I don't have
Please
Please
Please
Give me money or gift cards this Christmas
Because my wallet has forgotten how dollar bills smell
And my debit card needs some grimy green friends
And a break from the constant swiping
Or
If you want to see me explode with gratitude
Hug you
Cry
Proclaim you the greatest friend, brother, sister, mother, father, aunt, uncle
The greatest human being who ever lived
Forget the money or gift cards
Say these magic words to me on Christmas:
"Free babysitting, name the day"
Or
If babysitting is too scary
And your wallet is just as empty as mine
Let's get together for snacks and Trivial Pursuit
Homemade cookies and hot chocolate...or beer
We'll listen to Nirvana 'cause we're sick of Christmas carols
And we'll play with the kids' new toys after they're asleep
While the Christmas tree twinkles
While the snow falls (if we're lucky)
And we remember
Peace
Peace
Peace

Money for me, too!
I always want cash :-)
LOL. My motto is, "You can never go wrong when you give cash". they never return it or complain that it doesn't fit but I'm sure they always wish there was more of it.
boy if this isn't the truth. I went tonight and bought myself some oil paints with the one gift card that I got. I had to add $10 of my grocery money but oh welll Yeahhhhh, and Merry Christmas to you
really great options here, creative loving it!
True. The guessing game yields little more than things you'll sell in the next garage sale, regift, or leave to clutter a corner forever.
However, I'd warn against asking for gift cards. In our economy's state many stores aren't honoring gift cards anymore or they're simply going out of business (Borders is hovering on that cliff - i'd spend any cards you have with them immediately). Just a note.
Good poem though :)
Priceless expressions in here.
Oh, I feel ya! Some folks think it is impersonal (even insensitive) to give money/gift cards, etc. for Christmas. But let's be practical, folks! All I can think about is the LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG lines at Wal-Mart's retunrs desk on December 26th. 'Nuff sed!
Kicking back with friends, music, snacks and a good drink to play with kid's toys by the tree would be a real gift! You got it, Maria! ; )
