Please Send Jason Castro Home, American Idol

Amy Cox
There are a million different ways to say goodbye, but only two ways to sing it. Tonight on American Idol, the goodbye song will be either I Shot the Sheriff or Mr. Tambourine Man. Yes, it is true. The time has come for Jason Castro to say goodbye. Girls everywhere will be drying their eyes as the judges high five each other in the background.

It has seemed for quite some time that Jason Castro has tired of his time on the American Idol stage. Maybe he doesn't want to have to sing the cheesy song in the finale. Maybe he doesn't want to be locked into a recording contract. Whatever the reasoning behind his decision, he has thrown in the towel. Castro has all but given up. He is still strumming his guitar, he is still singing, but he is no longer performing. It is as if he is begging to be voted off of the show.

It would have been one thing if he was simply out sang last night. In that regard, he certainly was. However, he has recovered from that in the past, and probably could have again because he's so well liked. But giving up is not excusable on American Idol. It is taking a great opportunity and kicking it in the face.

Many have said that Jason Castro did not recover after Paula Abdul judged his song before he sang it. I don't think that is the case. I think this has been an ongoing problem for Castro. As a matter of fact, he said he was ready to go home in an interview on the show before Paula made her mistake.

Jason Castro has skated through the season of American Idol with a glib attitude that has served him surprisingly well. He has grinned about not knowing the songs of the mentors and about never having seen an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Taking things seriously has been a definite problem for Castro.

American Idol has become a joke to Jason Castro, and the joke needs to end tonight. If his fans are truly his fans, they did not vote for him last night. They decided to put the boy out of his misery and allow him to live the rest of his life without the glare of the spotlight.

Excuse me! The is your opinion about Jason's ability to sing. Actualy I love his voice and really cannot stand the screaching of the other contestants. It is very nice to have someone that just sings and puts his heart into it when he does. Love his voice absolutely love it.
So you see it is all by individual taste. I do not give a hoot who wins it now. Actualy the winner is actualy the loser so if Jason did, and that is a big if, throw the Hall of Fame night then Kudos to him. Who wants to be owned by AI. Now he can do his thing and if he wants to be famous he can. The ball is in his court now and that is a very good place for it to be.

Let the rest of them howl on. I have my downloads of the best on the show this year. Love my new cd.
    TaTa now. lol

I loved this article. I use to be a big fan of Castro but not any more and this last performance was almost unbearable.

Well he went home tonight, and you are right, he did pretty much dig his own grave. He threw in the towel, and even after tonight's show, he looked relieved to have been singing his final song in this year's American Idol competition. It seemed to me that seeing that he made it this far, he now knows that it's possible for him to sing in the music business, just when he is ready. Anyhow, good run Jason.

    :) i AGREE!

Jason sucks, by comparison with the Davids and Syesha. If he goes forward tonight, it will confirm my suspicions about the show's declining ability to discren real talent. It isn't Jason.

He's not going anywhere. The tweens on speed dial are going to see fit that David Cook goes home tonight in a huge upset.

I totally agree. Send Jason Castro home! It's kind of embarassing to American Idol to have a contestant give two performances like that in the same night. One mistake, fans will forgive. I don't think he wants it bad enough and the other contestants do!

you could see in his face that he has given up. his eyes lacked that sparkle, he looked worn out. i think jason has had enough and he will most definitely be going home tonight....

I think this is not his scene and he is ready to pack it in. I believe he realized this is something he doesn't want to do.

I agree, Jason is the least talented of the group. I don't know that he has given up, I just think he lacks confidence in himself, but he sure has a large fan base.
