Plies' Definition of Real is Strong Sophomore Effort

Less than a year ago, Plies released his debut album, The Real Testament. The album spawned two hit singles in Shawty, featuring T-Pain, and Hypnotized, featuring Akon. Now Plies is back with his sophomore album, Definition of Real. Will Plies be able to deliver a solid album after the extremely quick turnaround?

The first single off of Definition of Real is the J.R. Rotem produced Bust It Baby Part 2 featuring Ne-Yo. The song features a sample of the Janet Jackson classic Come Back To Me. The song is extremely catchy and radio friendly. The track cracked the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

The second single is the Drumma Boy produced I'm Da Man featuring R&B star Trey Songz. The song is a much harder track than the first single. The song will appeal to Plies' core audience. Trey Songz delivers a solid chorus like usual.

Lil Ronnie produced Please Excuse My Hands which features Grammy and Academy award winner Jamie Foxx and The-Dream. The production is fairly solid and catchy. The song features Jamie delivering a very strong chorus and strongest verses from Plies and The-Dream.

#1 Fan teams Plies with Keyshia Cole and J. Holiday. The song is another possibility for a single. The song is catchy and features three popular artists so it is bound to be successful.

Who Hotter Than Me was the perfect song to reintroduce Plies to the audience. The song features a catchy and infectious beat along with a very strong chorus. The song talks about Plies' success in the music industry; his arrogance on the track is actually adds to the song.

Somebody (Loves Me) samples the very popular Patti LaBelle song. The song shows off a softer side of Plies and is well produced.

Watch Dis is another solid song. The track features solid production and Plies' unique style which definitely works for him.

Rich Folk is as mellow as you can get from Plies. The song features nice production and a simple and catchy chorus.

Definition of Real is a very successful sophomore album. The effort shows a lot of growth from his debut. The album features a number of very good songs that are well put together. Definition of Real gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Plies make sure you pick up his sophomore album Definition of Real.
