Plunderhere.Com - A Friendly eBay Alternative

Art Maney
Change is not new to Plunderhere; since its inception three years ago as an online auction Web site, it has been sold twice and had several script changes.

This year has seen some severe development which initially caused some controversy as to whether Plunderhere would weather the storm but it seems to not only have done that but turned into a very serious and professional looking auction alternative to eBay.

The script is now swift, clean and after many modifications needed to run a site with such a massive database it now really will compete with the big guns. Page loads are quick, the dedicated server runs smoothly in the background and now after a nice makeover, it now really looks like it's dressed to compete and be able to handle the load.

Plunderhere allows feedback importing but using a new system it carefully verifies that each site that it imports feedback from is genuinely from the specified users. I particularly liked the fact that eBay users can import all their listings at a flick of a switch and the Plunderhere system deletes all reference to eBay during the process.

What we liked most about this dynamic looking site is the fact that a beginner can join, add listings and even open their own store plus get live assistance all for free. This is almost unheard of in this Industry. Additional features naturally are charged and billed at the end of each month but if a user becomes ID verified for a fee of $2.50, they will in return receive $20 in site credit to get their business off to a flying start.

Forums are also available on the site offering incredible amounts of information regarding help and how to use the various functions of the site. Most of this is offered voluntarily by new and experienced users but what is very noticeable here is that there is quite a nice system of management whereby Moderators each have specific jobs to monitor contests, welcoming of each new user, fraud issues as well as many other topics, there is even a number of site members known affectionately as 'Plunder Patrol' who scour the site for that 'mischievous' looking listing or potential scammer so 'watch out' if these guys are around!

A new community script has enabled user's to add blogs, groups, articles and many other things to also enahnce the fun of belonging to this site.

Their motto is: "Free Stores and Listings Forever" and their mascot is a cute parrot named 'Plundy' who has gone missing at the moment and there is a reward of $500 if somebody can find him.

Overall after having visited this site at the end of last year and again now, we can safely say that this site is a serious contender as a viable eBay alternative, it doesn't have the huge users or listings of the big one but it sure looks like it has a chance to give them a good run for their money.

My verdict - highly recommended
