Plus White Teeth Whitener Gel

The Good and the Bad

Chris M. Carmichael
Plus + White Teeth Whitener Gel contains a combination of hydrogen peroxide, glycerin, and other ingredients which help whiten teeth. It works well when used as directed and one 3.0 oz container lasts for quite a while; the exact length of time a container will last depends on how frequently the product is used.

Positive features of the product:

It has a pleasant taste.

It does whiten teeth when used as directed.

It can be used with or without a mouth tray.

It is easy to apply to the teeth.

The negative side:

The directions instruct the consumer to apply the gel to the surface of the teeth but to avoid any contact with the gum line. It is very difficult avoiding contact with the gum line. The only way to keep the product from touching the gum line is to fix the lips in a bizarre and uncomfortable grin, and making sure the lips do not touch the teeth. If the lips touch the teeth then the gel is spread to the gum line, no matter what you do-- unless you use the product with a mouth tray.

It is impossible to keep this teeth-baring grin for the minimum of five minutes that the product requires to begin working. For exceptionally stained teeth, the whitener gel needs to remain on the teeth for up to twenty minutes; unless you use a mouth tray, it will be uncomfortable to have this in your mouth for that long while trying to keep the gel off the gums. Once salivation starts, the product starts getting rather foamy and tends to spread around the mouth. Peroxide, though an excellent substance for bleaching teeth, can be damaging to the sensitive tissues of the mouth.

Plus + White Teeth Whitener Gel is supposed to be used twice daily for two weeks in order to get the best results. After that length of time, despite my attempts to follow the directions well and keep the gel away from my gums, I did experience minor irritation and redness of my gums.

Final words:

Plus + White Teeth Whitener Gel does what the packaging claims it does, but it can be a bit messy and a hassle. However, I would recommend this product, for occasional use, for most adults who desire whiter teeth.

This product is not recommended for anyone with braces or anyone who suffers from gingivitis. Care should be taken not to swallow the product and the mouth needs to be thoroughly rinsed after using the product.
