Pluto in Politics

Effects of Pluto in Politics and Upcoming Changes as Pluto Moves Out of Sagittarius

Jordana Kwan
Throughout history Pluto has caused both wondrous and catastrophic changes in our political systems. Pluto is the planet of transition, the planet of transformation, and it has proven itself time and time again. In the recent past we have seen drastic changes in the politics of the world every time its orbit decided to change houses. Pluto has been in Sagittarius since 1995 and will continue to be until 2008 when it moves into Capricorn, prior to 1995 Pluto was in Scorpio.

In 1992 we elected President William Clinton into office, while Pluto was still in Scorpio. Clinton did great things for this country. In the first one hundred days he was in office he had started to correct laws and reform policies in an effort to undo what had been done by the previous Presidents. The economy was in good shape and was getting better and things were moving forward in politics. Keep in mind that we had elected Clinton into office in Scorpio, this is important to understand why he was impeached at the end of his second term. Pluto moved in to Sagittarius in 1995. Societal changes effect politics closely, when Pluto moved from the sexually revolutionized Scorpio into the religiously dogmatic, truth seeking Sagittarius, it was obvious.

What was once commonplace was no longer. Society started to place more focus on religious faith, morals, and truth-seeking and this caused Clinton to be impeached. Clinton was definitely not the first president (or the last) to have some type of extramarital sexual encounter while serving as President, in fact, one of the country's most revered President had extramarital encounters with one of the most famous actresses of the time and he wasn't impeached for his immoral actions. However, with the religious fervor running rampant at the time, Clinton was impeached not for the quality of his policies or Presidential performance, but for moral reasons. The President that we elected during the time of sexual revolution was now getting the big dogmatic boot for being sexually revolutionized.

Clinton was replaced by George W. Bush in 2000. Bush fit the Sagittarian bill for the presidency, by preaching faith and morals he was just what Pluto ordered. The problem with Sagittarius is that the "truth at all costs" mentality combined with the dogmatic characteristic results in a "my truth at all costs" scenario. The real truth is no longer important and belief becomes the only truth. Religion and belief caused the World Trade Center bombing, and in turn caused the "War on Terror". A war entirely fueled by lies and the belief in someone else's truth. The United States was put under the mercy of Bush's pursuit of personal interests and poorly thought out political agenda and religious beliefs. His refusal to listen to anyone who may oppose "his truth" was also extremely apparent with his constant disregard for policy, law, and his own advisors.

When is this going to change? When does Pluto move into Capricorn? What does it mean for the country when Pluto does make its move into the next sign?

It's no surprise that the end of Bush's term is the same year that Pluto moves into Capricorn, in 2008. Historically, there are drastic changes after Pluto leaves Sagittarius. It is the time of major governmental and societal reforms. Capricorn is the sign of order and organization, and this is both a good thing and a bad thing. The move will be potentially chaotic, there will be major social and political change, but not necessarily for the better. Capricorn is about work, tends to be strict and it's all about rules. RULES, RULES, RULES! Please remember that these changes have already started. Pluto is a slow moving orb, it doesn't just jump from on sign to another, sign change is a process that includes a beginning, and middle and an end.

Things to look for when Pluto completes its leap in to Capricorn are some things that we have never seen before. There will likely be a first for either an African-American or a female president. If we don't see this as a change in this sign we will see it in the next change when Pluto moves into Aquarius. Whoever becomes the next president has the huge undertaking of putting the country back together. We will see a quick change within the first year of office. Under Capricorn look for healthcare, welfare, social and economic reform as well as environmental conservation as big topics. Also look for a change in both national and international policies, whether these changes will be good or bad are unknown.

In addition to the massive legislative governmental overhaul that will be long overdue, expect to see a major overall judicial overhaul as well. Capricorn is all about rules and the punishment for not following the rules are severe. Look for stiffer criminal sentencing including an increase in death sentences being handed down, look for indictments of political figures because no one is exempt from the law, less plea bargaining, and an increase in prison facilities and detention centers. Places like Guantanamo Bay will be shut down and there will be a trade-off of civil liberties that were stripped from us while Pluto was in Sagittarius. However, don't plan on regaining everything that we have lost until Pluto makes it into Aquarius, Capricorn is about rules and regulations and not about freedom. Also look for a push for world courts and globalization.

While you may be thinking that this is just what we need, think again. The transition from complete chaos to strict discipline doesn't come easy. Capricorn won't allow any chance of the government being overthrown, so look for stricter gun control, and the freedom to peaceful protest and grass movements to come to an end. Look for more censorship in general and laws to amend what's left of the freedom of speech in this country and any other thing that may aid a public disagreement with the government. As long as you can remember that it will be "Big Brother" before it gets better.

It will get better, but I wouldn't count on it anytime soon. Pluto doesn't make its next leap of faith into Aquarius until 2025. However, Pluto in Aquarius brings up an entirely new set of problems as well as benefits.

This is a fantastic article. As a human rights activist, I'm curious to see how this play
out when Pluto travels into Capricorn. I've already seen first-hand what can happen
when the wrong people gain too much power and then abuse it for their own selfish
purposes. Most people are too scared to fight back but the Internet is a great place
to speak our minds freely. However, when censorship on the Internet begins to take
place, that is when you know that we are all in trouble. What's most interesting about
Pluto is that it's effect is usually not felt until the end of its cycle but we know what's
happening while it's taking place. Keep up the good work!
