Poem: an Able Heart

Stanley W. Shura
*A DEDICATION TO THOSE CHILDREN who find so many ways to reach and move and talk to one's heart, even as they cannot do as much with their bodies or mouths.*

An Able Heart

When I look at you, I see that much more reason and purpose for me.
When I look at you, I see the pain and want and most unfair destiny.
When I look at you, I see the blinding rage to overcome your strife.
When I look at you, I see the purest ache to speak up in this life.
When I look at you, I see a twinkle that defies an unfair start.
When I look at you, I see a whole that belies any broken part.
When I look at you, I see a boy who will not be defined by flaw.
When I look at you, I see a girl who loves despite her pain so raw.
When I look at you, I see a love to move beyond this time and place.
When I listen with my heart, I know that you have been a gift of grace.

Thank you.

Kady, you are *totally* making my day. That's three email alerts I've opened so far, and three comments from you that have me "jacked" and wanting to write right this moment! :) :)
