Poem for December, Part I

Albert Chang
You, the natural human being,

That layeth thy bosom over steel coals,

And spreads thy nape to the winds of fortune,

As ivory coasts run through they marrow,

And conjunctions flock freely to the storm,

The whim of the peninsula shall be put to shame,

As packs of heat unfold,

Light thy extremities, with fangs bared sharp,

As brother and sister are abandoned for more,

As father and mother continue through their lives,

As windows are shut and curtains are drawn.
