Poem: Floating in Space

The hours pass as I lie here, trapped on the floor
I'm stuck in an illusion and I am starting to lift off
There's no telling where I'll go, the state of mind I'm in
I can't be well; I think I'm flying or falling
Either way, up or down, I'll take it all under wings
Discovery is a beautiful thing these days
I think I'll take the pill that brings out the child in me
And I'll chase it with a yellow one, just to soothe my thoughts
I'll remember to leave a note on the door for my future self
I may never come back exactly the same, in fact I'm counting on it
Everyone who enters must be judged to some degree
Act on your fears and not your wishes
Burn the place down with cellophane covered lies
A combination of OD's and Paris
Nothing could be better than this
The hollowness of my nose trembles
And my eyes sparkle with abrupt elation
The pulse beneath my skin is furious
I'm on my way up and out
And I am certain I will fall hard
Feelings awakening without a chance of survival
Erasing the pain I feel with a wafer of truth
White powder, another friend of mine
A satisfying mixture of beauty and obsoleteness
The simple things are never too easy
Another chase; I can't stop the waves from creeping up on me
Bruised from solitude, broken despair, and near sighted thoughtfulness
I imagine that feeling empty is a lot like living with fear
We're all out of here someday, why not live dangerously?
To be solicitous is not really living at all
A matchstick brings me back to life
But I can never listen
It gives me life and I give it the life it's meant to be had
And I know I won't be well for awhile
